Outside and Bruises

Get ready for a round-up of all my photos and videos from the phone.  When I'm alone, it's all I've got to capture memories.  There is no time to use a real camera when you're alone, running after this Bug.

Someone loves to spend time outside.  Multiple times a day, she asks, "Mommy?  Outside?"  So, after day care each day, we spend some time walking around the apartment complex and down the street.

However, nothing beats sitting on the front stairs and watching people go by.  Bug has gotten to know a lot of our neighbors just by saying "Hello!"  :)  These stairs, by the way, are where she met the 10 year old boys she loves to watch run around.  :/

We have a lot of deep and thoughtful Mommy-baby conversations here that go something like this:

Bug: "Mommy, what's dis?"
Mommy:  "Flowers."
Bug:  "N dis?"
Mommy:  "Neighbors."
Bug: "Oh.  Dat?"
Mommy:  "Stairs."
Bug:  "Oh!"

"Jumping" in the rain puddles.

Fun on the stairs with Mommy.

Other things:

A little chit chat before bed.  She is practicing her teacher's names and talking about them.  This video is all black, but turn up the sound.  It's worth it.

She never looked more like me than in this picture.  :P

Daddy comes home!

Bruises.  Lots of them.  They get worse each time.  This actually looks better than it really was.  Is there such a thing as too mobile?  How did it happen?  She was playing with a baby walker (that she doesn't need) and ran with it...and fell right on the handles.  Awesome.

The bruise this morning.

Let's be thankful her teeth are still there.  Gah!

God Bless,
Kat

4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 month Cub (9, 10, 11 too)

Clearly I've missed a few monthly updates of the Cub.  I apologize.  We were busy and life has literally taken us for a whirlwind ride.  To be really honest, I lost a lot of motivation to write these past few months because I've every time I started to write, all I could think to write about was my grandpa, Papang, how much I've missed him, and the endless tears that came out when I thought of him.  Every time I reflected back on the moments with my kids and my family, I seemed to cry, thinking of how much he's missed even in the short 5 months he's been gone.  After months of tears and prayers, I feel like I'm officially starting to feel like I'm healing.  While I know I may not heal completely, I can function without tears flowing from my eyes every moment of silence. Cubby has grown quite a bit (to say the least) since my 3 month update.  Here is the gentle giant's growth in months 4, 5, 6, and 7. This weekend, Cubby turned 8...

"Thank you for being a friend..."

[And now, a short introduction with the theme song to the sitcom, The Golden Girls] "Thank you for being a friend, Traveled down the road and back again. Your heart is true your a pal and a confidant. And if you through a party, Invited everyone you ever knew... You would see the biggest gift would be from me, And the card attached would say thank you for being a friend." This morning, Rue McClanahan, who played Blanche Devereaux on my favorite show, The Golden Girls, passed away. If you know me, you could understand how upset I might be.  (Quote from Blanche:  " There is a fine line between having a good time and being a wanton slut. I know. My toe has been on that line." ) The Golden Girls was, is and will always be my favorite show...EVER. Within the last few years, both Estelle Getty (who played Sophia) and Bea Arthur (who played Dorothy) passed away as well and that in itself was a tragedy; for we all know what an amazing duo they made!    (Quote fro...

What if...

I was on the phone today with my brother, Kyle, and was telling him about my emotionally charged moment in a parking lot as I dropped off the hubs at work after having lunch with him.  As I drove through the aisle of the parking lot, a parked car quickly backed out of it's spot without looking.  My natural instinct, of course, was to stop, rather than move forward.  Thankfully, however, the car quickly stopped itself from hitting the front passenger side of my car, where the hubs was sitting.  I pulled into a spot to calm myself down.  My heart was racing.  Wyatt turned to me and asked, "Are you okay?"  I just could not find the words to respond.  (Strange, I know.)  I was breathing so heavily and I think he realized I was about to freak out and said, "We're fine.  She didn't hit us."  He was right.  The driver had stopped quickly enough and everyone was safe.  However, I still could not get myself to calm down.  3, 2...
