I caught you!

The other morning, I was getting ready for work and walked into the bedroom to find another woman in bed with my husband. That's right, folks. She's a sneaky one! I caught ya'! She doesn't care I caught her.  She loves Wyatt. The funny thing about this is that Wyatt HATES when McKayla is on the pillow.  He's really, really, really paranoid about her kitty paws.  He thinks because she steps in her litter box, she carries the dirt with her.  Seriously?  Cats are the cleanest pets and McKayla, as stubborn and pushy as she may be, would never jump onto the bed with dirty paws! McKayla is so sneaky!  She knows just when to jump right next to Wyatt.  Every morning, when I walk into the bedroom after getting ready for work, she is always by his side.  You think she's trying to push me out of the way to steal my husband?  God Bless, Kat

McKayla- finally all settled at home.

McKayla's new trick.  When she's waiting for you to figure out it's time to eat, she lays on her back.  She can't really stay on her back because she's so chubby...so she always ends up rolling over.  SO CUTE!  (Yes, we realize she's chubby...even with the diet we've put her on.  We cannot be held responsible for something that happened before we adopted her. :)) Trying to sneak up on her... Ah!  She sees me! LOOK OF DEATH for disturbing her slumber... Slowly falling asleep...     ...and OUT!         She's definitely a fatty mcFatty. :)        There is NO privacy in our home! God Bess, Kat

Danish cookies, UCSB, a surprise bday cake, and one HUGE burrito!

This last weekend we went with my family to Solvang and Santa Barbara to meet with my brother and his family for a day of ice cream, danish cookies, a beach and a burrito. I will warn you ahead of time that Wyatt will not be any of these photos.  (He was too busy eating ice cream, cookies, and one large burrito!) What a wonderful day! :) My brother, Kyle & sister-in-law, Catherine, in front of my brother's freshman year dorm at UCSB....3 kids later. :) My parents at the beach in Santa Barbara Me, holding one very LARGE burrito He's been waiting all month for this burrito! Making a sandy mess... Mama & the girls. :) Working off the burrito I took this amazing photo. I <3 this girl.  ...and this one! ...and this one! :) SURPRISE!  Happy bday, Mommy! It is so rare that we ever get a chance to head out for one relaxing day together, so we really took advantage of this one.  I heart my family. God Bless, Kat

"Thank you for being a friend..."

[And now, a short introduction with the theme song to the sitcom, The Golden Girls] "Thank you for being a friend, Traveled down the road and back again. Your heart is true your a pal and a confidant. And if you through a party, Invited everyone you ever knew... You would see the biggest gift would be from me, And the card attached would say thank you for being a friend." This morning, Rue McClanahan, who played Blanche Devereaux on my favorite show, The Golden Girls, passed away. If you know me, you could understand how upset I might be.  (Quote from Blanche:  " There is a fine line between having a good time and being a wanton slut. I know. My toe has been on that line." ) The Golden Girls was, is and will always be my favorite show...EVER. Within the last few years, both Estelle Getty (who played Sophia) and Bea Arthur (who played Dorothy) passed away as well and that in itself was a tragedy; for we all know what an amazing duo they made!    (Quote fro...

It's the truth!

Let's be honest.  Wyatt won't really take the time to write in this blog as an author, but he will read the things I post.  So, I've chosen to exclude him from the profile account.  It's just me. :)  However, just because he's not on the profile account does not mean these blogs will not include him.  This blog is the story of our life.  Therefore, he will always be included.  He does, on occassion, leave a comment on posts and has access to this account, so please feel free to leave him a message too.  I will personally do you all a favor and deliver any messages to him myself.  (One of the many benefits of living with him.) :) Wyatt still cannot get over the new car.  Last night we dropped off the title to his truck at the dealership.  On the way to the dealership (all 10 minutes it took to get there), Wyatt talked about all the features of the car (i.e. aux, disc, ipod, radio, compartments, etc.).  YES, ALL THE WAY THERE....

She goes by "Red"

Wyatt and I have been anticipating the time when we would have to put down his old truck and replace it with something less problematic.  Don't get me wrong, Wyatt's GMC Sonoma has been good to him for six years, but after recently discovering the smell of leaking gas (and never quite having found the source of the leak), it only fueld (no pun intended) our drive (again, no pun intended) to search for a new car. We discussed our options:  truck or sedan.  We knew that whatever car we purchased, it would be in our family for awhile.  Well, there was the key word- family.  Shoot.  We all know that Wyatt is a truck kind of guy- a truck always allowing Wyatt to be independent and never having to rely on anyone to help him move anything .  I would not take this away from him, so my only condition on buying a new car was:  it better be able to fit a car seat in the back (whether or not this would be a truck or sedan, I did not care.) When w...

A Quaker wedding and a Graduation

This by far, has to be one of the busiest Memorial Day Weekends I've ever had. I'm usually pretty set on never leaving town like the rest of the planet. Despite having not gone out of town for the weekend, we still had plenty to do around Los Angeles. Saturday: McKenzie & Quentin's wedding My co-worker, McKenzie got married on Saturday at Pitzer College in Claremont, CA. For their wedding ceremony she and her fiance chose to do a Quaker ceremony. Just like yourselves, I was unfamiliar with this as well. A Quaker wedding basically focuses on the love and support not only from the bride and groom, but from the community as well. Instead of having readings, family and friends gather together and offer words of advice and the community reflects on the advice given. It was a beautiful wedding and probably one of my favorites. After the reflections, the bride and groom exchanged their vows. After they were done, a gust of wind blew in the gathering area. There could not ha...
