Bedtime? No way!

When I got into the shower I thought the hubs was putting Bug to bed.  I thought.  When I got out, a little Bible reading was being done.  I guess it wasn't time to sleep yet. Yeah.  Definitely not time for bed.  She is wide awake. God Bless, Kat

A Bunch of Kids

Our Cathedral Couples group has increasingly become a huge part of our marriage and now, Bug's life.  With all the couples reproducing and spawning their own "Mini Me's", play dates are a must.  Check out the goodness.  *Please note that baby Lucas is laying flat because he is a lot younger than the others.  Also, baby Enrique is unavailable because he was a good listener and went to sleep.  Haha!* (Left to right:  Grayson, Zoe, Ava, Nathan, Bug and Lucas- front row, center) Just for fun... Bug on Ash Wednesday.  As they placed the ashes on her forehead the Eucharistic minister said, "Remember you are a child of God" and Bug gave her a very quirky smirk.  All I could do was laugh and think, "Yes...please remember that you are a child of God...when you are your Un-soothable self."  :P  Bath time! God Bless, Kat

Mildly Stated

Last Thursday I turned 28.  28!  I have no problem getting older because with each year (even as I get closer to the dreaded 3-0), I feel more and more blessed (and I'm still younger than most of the people I know.  Ha!)  So bring on the age!  (But...please not that quickly.  A girl's gotta adjust!)  :) Because of a little thing called a baby, obviously this year's birthday was not spent going out with friends and was definitely not going to last a week.  Because my birthday landed on a weekday, there was no possibility of going out to dinner with Bug.  After day care...I wasn't taking any chances.  Bug did, however, give me a very awesome birthday gift on Thursday- no fussing AT ALL. I picked her up from day care and they said she was fabulous.  Then I took her home and no fussing all night.  Go me!  THE BEST gift a mother could dream of.   Okay, so don't get too caught up in all that "no fuss" business...

Counting

Sometimes you just have to count your blessings. My husband and best friend. My Bug. My other best friend. My parents. My siblings. My nieces. My grandparents. My in-laws. My McKayla.   My cousins. My boss, coworkers, and my job. My friends/extended family. When all else fails, count your blessings.  You're probably a lot luckier than most.  I know I am.

Random

When you can't calm down, sometimes you get jail time to cool off. Yup...sitting up is still an issue sometimes.  (We'll work on it.)  Feeding time is still messy and I'm assuming this doesn't change for a few more years.   God Bless, Kat

A chair that happens to be high

Thank to Fisher Price, we are able to save a whole lot of space with their high chair that you attach to an existing dining room table chair and then it turns into a booster when the baby gets older.  I'm all for saving space, especially in our apartment.  Here's our little Bug, eating in her high chair.  Can you even call this eating? By the way, we have nixed the banana eating for now and will reintroduce it later.  About half an hour after each banana feeding, she threw up. Argh.  No go on that.  This week, we're doing apples! :) God Bless, Kat

What's under the table?

Bug has officially discovered that if she bends her knees and tilts her head, she can (somewhat) see what's under the table.  While opening up her savings account at Chase this weekend, she started doing this... Yes, she was smiling at the Chase rep, who was a sorority sister of mine.  I'm pretty sure if she wasn't, we would have been kicked out for laughing so loudly while attempting to open up an account...which, thanks to Bug, took awhile. Bug spent the night with Mama and Papa on Sunday night and Mommy and Daddy cleaned the entire apartment. I'm talking really cleaned.  And, we organized.  All the "old" baby stuff was put into boxes, awaiting delivery to Bug's soon-to-be-cousin, Baby Martinez.  The best part about the 5 hour cleaning session- we discovered we do have a living room afterall...under all the play mats, bouncers, swings, books, and finger puppets. :)  Bug came home on Monday to a VERY clean home. On Monday, we had a visitor we...

Back Massage Friday

Apparently it's back massage Friday... ...and everyone, BUT Mommy got the message. What a sweet picture of Daddy postponing getting out of bed. :P   God Bless, Kat

::SIGH::

The conversation went something like this... Hubs:  "Honey, Bug's a really cute baby, but you were pretty cute too." Me:  "You think we look alike?" Hubs:  "Yeah." Me:  "Yeah, I think I was pretty cute too, but Bug is really cute.  How scary is it that she acts like me?" Hubs: ::SIGH:: Me:  "We've got a lot to deal with, especially when she's a teenager." Hubs:  "GREAT." He seems to be looking forward to this adventure...as am I... ::SIGH:: God Bless, Kat

Look out, Top Chef!

Last I had a few surprises. Surprise #1:  Bug went to bed without any milk and way too early...so early I feared she would wake up in the middle of the night.  Surprise #2:   The hubs came home from work early.  Well, not "early", but normal time for most people and "earlier" than he normally does.  Yippeee!  Valentine's day and I actually get to spend some quality time with the hubs?  Valentine's Day gift- CHECK! Surprise #3:   The hubs cooked a romantic dinner.  YES.   You read it correctly.  For the...oooohhh...second time since we've been together, he cooked a full meal.  (The first time was when we first started dating and I didn't have the heart to tell him I didn't enjoy it too much.)  <---Fail!  Now he knows.  Let's face it. We just started dating at the time and I wasn't about to shoot down his ego on his first try.  It is the effort that counts, after all.  Now we're married...

Happy NOT Valentine's Day?

Happy NOT Valentine's Day from this not-so-happy-but-still-lovable Bug! Obviously she was not in any sort of hugging mood today, but how cute does she look with my balloons? Interested, but not excited. Annoyed. Unlike Bug, I love Valentine's Day.  Daddy and I celebrated Valentine's Eve last night with some roses and wine, while putting together the treats we made for Bug's teachers.  Thanks, Dad for the surprise roses and wine! Our final product was AMAZING, if I do say so myself! Then this morning I found some surprises in my car before I left for work.  It was worth being semi-late. Happy Valentine's Day to everyone!  I hope your hearts are filled with love today, as well as every single day of the year! God Bless, Kat

Racing box. No?

Since Bug has begun eating solids, we've been having to clean up A LOT in the kitchen.  This girl is messy with the bottle and even more messy with solids, requiring a bath after being fed.  Rice cereal was a no go for her, even with the addition of sweet potato for flavoring.  She takes in about half the amount and for the last few nights, we've gotten back to a full 10-12 hours of sleep.  AMEN!  Our prayers have been answered!  Mommy and Daddy were so exhausted from Bug reverting back to her newborn ways.  Seriously, Bug gets so many gifts.  With the way she's eating, we're gonna need to request pampers and LOTS of bibs!  Dad got home and this was the messy little face he saw...  OMG...such a mess. Take note of the first bib in her hand.  That was dirty too.  Really, really, really wants to feed herself.  On Saturday, we went to my Goddaughter, Sophia's first birthday party.  (Thanks, ...
