Veggies, Daddy love, and silence.

It's not anything new to hear that we have to hide Bug's green veggies in her food, mix it up so she can't see it and sometimes even splash a bit of ketchup for her to not completely taste it.  Since she has such a sweet tooth, the last couple of weeks, I've been able to feed Bug a ton of the summertime fruits and veggies that are oh-so-sweet!   Not only did she know she was eating zuchinni and squash, but I didn't even have to mash it and mix it into her food!  She was well aware it was there and to my surprise, even asked for more!  :)  Mealtimes have been such a chore the last few months, it's exciting to see her sit down for a full meal and want to eat what's on the plate.  She is so busy chasing the cat or playing with puzzles that it's rare to get her to eat more than 1/4 of her plate.  I'm hoping the last couple of weeks is just the beginning of Bug's new healthy appetite.  I'm not trying to brag or anything, but Bug is...

2.5 Minutes

I have about 2.5 minutes to get this blog post up before another busy weekend full of pics.  It's been hectic at work and at the end of the day, I sit at the computer to blog about last weekend's awesome festivities and without fail, always end up with nothing.  There is way too much thinking going on at work as of late and by the time I get home, I have absolutely nothing to say.  Weird, right?  So here it is!  My belated Father's Day post! We were very lucky to have family on both sides in town last weekend for Father's Day.  First, Nana and Tata came into town. We did a lot of L.A. things like attend the reopening of Echo Park!   Daddy, Uncle Scott, and Buggy all made it on the Fox 11 news that night!  Check it out! Los Angeles Local News, Weather, and Traffic Celebrity status, right?  :) On Father's Day I woke up to these two sleeping beauties...still asleep. Then we stopped by Mama and Papa's ho...

It's sure...

...to be a happy Friday with these Buggy videos!       See ya' next week!   God Bless, Kat

Advocate

The previous blog was about Buggy's potty training experience.  Part of that experience was pretty darn awful, but it had nothing to do with Bug.  It had everything to do with Buggy's soon-to-be teachers in her big kid classroom and their lack of communication with us about our potty training protocol.  Months in advance, each day, I let the teachers know when we would be potty training Buggy and asked what their protcol was.  Each time I inquired, their response was, "You start your process at home for three days and we will continue your process at school."  Okay, that seemed simple.  However, because of their vague response, I continued to ask day after day and received the same response.  So, we went ahead and trained her last weekend, no pull-ups- all panties.  It was our personal preference to not even introduce pull-ups because for our kid, we know she learns better when we just switch cold turkey, rather than gradually.   Be...

22 month Bug

Happy 22 months and 6 days to our almost fully potty trained kiddo!   (That's right, almost potty trained...which is why this update is so late.) We had four straight days of potty training fun the weekend Bug turned 22 months.  We're awful parents.  :P  Now, we've officially transitioned from diapers to panties at home and pull-ups at school.  (I'll explain the pull-ups at school in the next blog.) Potty training through Instagram Day 1:  Just Mommy and Bug.  Longest day of my life.  Even Mommy needed some cookie rewards while Bug napped. Day 2:   Daddy, Mommy, and Bug(and cat).  Mommy got flowers and coffee from Daddy while he went out for "being a good mommy."  He sure knows the key to my heart- STARBUCKS! :) I'm sure our neighbors appreciated the panty line we had on our balcony. :) Day 3 Day 4:  Back to Mommy and Buggy only. After four days of saying, "Buggy, if you need to pe...

Courage

Of all the things I hope for in life for Bug, the thing that ranks pretty high is that she grows up to be courageous- that she has the courage to stand up for what she believes in, has the courage to pursue her dreams, the courage to believe in herself and others, the courage to have faith in God and retain it, and the courage to love with all her heart.  I realize all of this being courageous business is going to take work on our part as her parents, but also on her part.  It's going to be a journey.  I feel like I'm still working on that myself.  For now, Buggy is just working on the courage to get on the swing at the park and although she has yet to conquer that fear, she has conquered one thing- the slide- all three of them at the park. :)  We're starting small here. She looks like she's going faster than she really is. Okay, fine.  Here she's actually sliding pretty quickly. We've been doing a lot of park days since it doesn't get da...
