Too much park?

We have been unbelievably busy since Bug turned 2...which is why this post is so late.  I'm not even sure when my last one was (could have been yesterday, could have been last week -- I can't even tell the difference these days).  Now that Bug is 2, she is so much harder to tire out.  You parents understand me.  When I'm with Bug, the only thing I can think of is how I can tire her out.  It's exhausting!  :)  Admit it- you do it too.  So, a few of Bug's school friends and their families meet up with us at the park for some after-school-tire-your-kids out time. :)  We bring dinner and watch the kids run around, trade food, help them up the playground apparatuses that frighten the living daylights out of the moms, and have some parent quality time. :)  It's so amazing to see Bug interacting with her buddies from school.  She is a Bug I've never seen when she's with them.  I love watching them talk to each other like mini adults,...

Lessons learned through good times.

I'm not sure if you remember the wedding we went to for our friends, Elyse and Evan .  Well, they just got their wedding photos back and we made it in a few.  Some lessons were learned... 1. Everyone loves wine.  We have now joined the club.  I no longer drink wine with a sour look on my face. 2.  These parents need to get out more because after "X" amount of glasses of wine, we partied way too hard. If we could just go out every so often, we wouldn't look as though we don't get out much (even though we don't) when we're actually in public.  Can anyone say "out of control?"  Who dances like this anyway?  THIS mom.  I will make sure to pull out these moves when I pick up Bug from junior high school...because I can.  (Obviously Bug did not get her smooth moves from mom.) 3.  When women catch a bouquet, we all have the same look on our faces -- mouths and eyes wide open.  I wasn't even competing and I still look t...

First and last of any.

We are seriously hoping this is the first and last of ANY trips to the emergency room.  That's right.  I said it.  Emergency room.  Last night, after giving Bug a bath, in an attempt to get Bug off the floor during a semi-tantrum to put on some pajama's, Daddy heard a POP!  Then Mommy heard some crying.  It was done.  After hoping it was just a dramatic attempt on her part to postpone bedtime, we tried to put her shirt on and as she cooperatively lifted her left arm through the sleeve of the shirt, her right would not move.  AH!  This was it- our first trip to the emergency room...at 9:25pm on a Sunday night.   Shirtless, wrapped in a blanket, waiting to be seen.  As we were bringing her in we saw a "safe drop off" sign for parents who drop off babies they can no longer take care of.  I feared people would think we were dropping her off, wrapped in a blanket.  No.  We do not want to drop off our 2 year old k...

2 year Bug

Happy 2nd birthday to our talkative, sensitive, creative, caring, bossy little Bug! Did I mention she's a diva?  :)  2 year stats: 25 lbs. 10 ounces (25-50th percentile) 33.5 inches (25-50th percentile head: 44 centimeters (75th percentile) The nurse said Bug experienced a slight growth spurt.  Wow.  This was a growth spurt?  Don't grow too much or anything.  Here she is, in all your 25-50th percentile glory!  Maybe if she would eat something other than yogurt, she would experience a real growth spurt. Dear Buggy, Happy 2nd birthday!  You are our greatest blessing and bring more joy to our lives than you will ever know. In 2 years you've managed to turn our world upside down with your never-ending energy and chatter.  Our house is a much more vibrant place to be when you're around.  Everything we have is so colorful!  I sometimes forget we own plates that can break, or even furniture that's not s...

Quash

Her exact words were, "Imma beeg girl, mom!  I eat-a da quash!  yeah!" Usually, I have to hide the veggies in her food and even if I don't, as long as I'm feeding her, she'll eat it.  Yesterday, she fed herself and Buggy chose to eat squash!  We're on a veggie roll!  Praise God for giving me any patience to work with the world's pickiest eater!  This choosy moment has been 2 months in the making! God Bless, Kat

Friends are awesome.

Right? God Bless, Kat
