Whoa, Mama!

Happy 37 weeks to baby Ella!  I'm currently blogging from my sister's computer, while visiting her.  Our home computer is just a tad bit too slow and until we get a new one, the blogs will probably be random...whenever I can get to a computer that will support all this blogging nonsense.  I've been on maternity leave exactly one week today and it hasn't been exactly how I thought it would be.  I spent the first two days of my leave picking up last minute baby items and stocking up on toiletries so that the hubs and I don't have to leave the apartment for awhile once the baby is born.  I'm sure all the errands would have taken a normal person one entire day to accomplish, however, it took this nine month pregnant woman a good 2-3 days.  Why?  Because after half a day out and about, I'm easily exhausted and need to get home to take a nap and once I've woken up from a nap, it's time to cook dinner and I just can't get myself out of the house anymor...

"Give him a hand."

Today marks week 36, which also happens to be my last day at work before maternity leave (woohoo!).  In the last two weeks I've grown increasingly tired...I'm talking I can barely move my legs or open my eyes kind of tired.  All of a sudden I feel exhausted from pregnancy and the over 100 degree heat last week just did not help out.  (However, I watched the news the other day and this week/weekend should bring slightly better weather.  Thank goodness!)    Last Friday, the hubs and I celebrated our 5 year anniversary.  Yup, I can't believe we've been together for 5 years!  We spent the day playing hookie (a.k.a. Wyatt had no work and got to leave early, so I left work too).  We had a romantic lunch at Subway and he even got me flowers!   THIS is what an almost 9 month pregnant woman looks like when she's hungry! After lunch, we went home to rest (because that's what a pregnant girl needs to do!), went to see a matinee movie at 3...

Cheeks!

Well, folks...it's been awhile since a baby update and I sincerely apologize for that.  It's been a stressful month and a half.  At my 7 month appointment, I failed the gestational diabetes test.  Some women develop it during pregnancy and others do not.  I went to see the nutritionist and apparently, it has nothing to do with what I'm eating, but rather, how I spread it out throughout the day.  That angered me, even though I should have been thankful for such a response.  In my mind I pretty much would have rather heard her say, "You aren't eating the right things.  Eat this stuff."  Instead I got, "Oh, you're eating all the right things.  You can keep eating all that stuff.  You just need to eat every two hours, versus three times a day."   So here's how it works (according to both Dr. Lee and the nutritionist)... Your body produces a certain amount of insulin (some on reserve and others not).  When you're pregnant, yo...

5 years and counting...

5 years ago today, I took the hubs to a wedding as my "date" (but just as "friends"). (We look pretty young, right?  We also look pretty hot in this 106 degree weather- what a perfect day!) I still can't believe it's been 5 years!  I'll say it again- it seems like forever!  Since I we couldn't really figure out when we started dating (the reason for this being Wyatt never actually "asked me out", or vice versa), we pretty much consider this unofficial date to my friends' wedding, the official start date. :) I love this guy and for as long as we can remember this exact date, we'll probably still recognize it, on top of our wedding date.   And now...we're having a baby!  What a blessing to have met such an caring and dedicated man and to now be able to start a family together.  I can't wait for the many, many, many adventures to come! God Bless, Kat
