19 month Bug

For real this time...

Happy 19 months and 5 days to our moving Bug!
This was the first attempt at a 19 month photo session, which actually happened the day before her 19 month birthday.

It just wasn't at all successful because someone was not having it.  Her attempt at running away from the photo session.

Then she got distracted by some boys.  ::SIGH::

I'd love to tell you that Bug has stopped chasing the cat around, but she hasn't.  Her volume has just gotten much louder when she chastises the poor adopted kitty.  Bug is always telling her not to sit on the bed or to tell her to "come here, eat food," and runs around chasing her for fun.  Poor kitty.

Here she is, waiting for McKayla to get out from under the bed.  McKayla now spends a lot of time under there- her secret hiding spot from this little terror. :/

Bug is also learning how to put on her clothes.  Here, she insisted that Daddy put Mommy's socks on her legs. Hey, I'm a huge fan of whatever keeps her busy. Whatever it is.  That's a 48th percentile weight kind of tummy, folks.  Hahaa.  So cute and soft.

The second attempt at a 19 month photo shoot was a little more....mobile.  We don't do much sitting still these days.  While McKayla is busy running away from Bug, Daddy and I are busy running after her.  She goes nonstop and doesn't even take a break to nap when she's with us.  Usually we can get her in the car for a short nap, but this weekend, she went nonstop.  Not only was she running on the sidewalk, but when we put her in the car, she did some nonstop talking (at full volume, of course!).  We are definitely working on the whispering thing.

Favorite phrases include:
"What's dis?"...even before she's had a chance to see anything.
"Meee-OW!"
"Sit down."
"Wait."
"Bye car (caw)."
"Ella (Ay-la)"

Talking to some older boys (and by older I mean like 10 years old) that obviously did not want to converse.  She has become a big fan of the big kids, especially the 10-ish year old boys.  I think it's because they move around as much as she does.  The kids in the neighborhood spend a ton of time running around after each other and on their scotters and bikes and when Bug comes home from day care, she always greets them with a, "Hi, friends!  Watch out!  Cars!"  So sweet.  I'll admit, it is sweet that they let her hang around them for awhile, but my heart aches when she watches them run off and her little legs just cannot follow them.

Yay!  Picture with Mommy!  It's okay that she's trying to run away from Mommy.

Bug runs.  Dad chases her.  Mom captures it.

Oh, she also loves walk around with her eyes closed and/or her hands over her eyes.  It makes for some interesting walking trips.

Someone's not used to all her new big teeth in the back so she does a lot of this finger in her mouth thing.  She waited so long to get any teeth and all of them at once is just killing her.  What a trooper.  I just hope she doesn't bite away at her little fingers.

One last time.  Please sit still so Mommy can get some photos for your 19 month update.
No?  Okay.
::SIGH::

Other updates:
1.  Someone loves playing pretend with her baby doll and toys.
2.  She still loves to sing and dance.  She just cannot help herself.  When she hears music, she stops to sing along.  In church when the priest or the congregation sing, she hums what she thinks is the song.  She makes every effort to sing along.
3.  When we all sit down for a meal, she now initiates holding hands and praying.

God Bless,
Kat

4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 month Cub (9, 10, 11 too)

Clearly I've missed a few monthly updates of the Cub.  I apologize.  We were busy and life has literally taken us for a whirlwind ride.  To be really honest, I lost a lot of motivation to write these past few months because I've every time I started to write, all I could think to write about was my grandpa, Papang, how much I've missed him, and the endless tears that came out when I thought of him.  Every time I reflected back on the moments with my kids and my family, I seemed to cry, thinking of how much he's missed even in the short 5 months he's been gone.  After months of tears and prayers, I feel like I'm officially starting to feel like I'm healing.  While I know I may not heal completely, I can function without tears flowing from my eyes every moment of silence. Cubby has grown quite a bit (to say the least) since my 3 month update.  Here is the gentle giant's growth in months 4, 5, 6, and 7. This weekend, Cubby turned 8...

A Kinder Grad

Kindergarten can really take a toll on the parents.  (Yes, I meant to say parents.)  I knew we were in for a lot of activities and volunteering, but I did NOT know that it would become a second job to be an involved school parent.  I was told that by volunteering and being involved, it would give your kids (and their classmates) all the benefits.  At a private school (especially a Catholic private school), if there aren’t any volunteers, there aren’t many activities.  So ultimately, I knew I had to participate.  Could I have cut down on the activities I chaired or took part in?  Sure.  Why didn’t I?  [Insert long sigh here.]  Because in the end, I realized that I wasn’t sending my child to a private school because it was better than the public schools in the area.  (We actually have great public schools in our district.)  I was sending my child to a private Catholic school so she could learn about her faith.  The most imp...

9 years later...

This is the story of a dentist-in-waiting-nomad, Angela (a.k.a. my sister, "Ate"-[for those who don't speak Filipino, pronounced "a-teh"]) and a basketball playing of an engineer. Freshman year: boy sees girl and never speaks to her. Senior year: boy befriends girl's sister and gets his chance. A winter formal came along. Boy asked. Girl accepted. Boy meets girl's brothers (eek!), mom, and dad (EEK!). They danced. Girl moves to San Francisco, then San Jose. Boy moves to San Jose. Boy moves back to Valencia. Girl stays in San Jose. This summer, girl will move back to Valencia. Soon, boy and girl will finally be getting married! 9 years later! I have yet to express how excited I am that my sister and Louie are finally getting married. (Not that they needed to tie the knot to officially make Louie a part of our family.) For nine years, Louie has become another big brother to me and an Uncle "Looouuuwweeeee" to my nieces- always willing to d...
