My husband is awesome.

Did I mention what an awesome husband I have?  No, really.  On top of loving and providing for two very emotional and bossy (sometimes crazy) girls (sometimes three if you count the cat), he still manages to support and encourage me in everything I do.  This weekend I had two photo shoots and he took Bug all afternoon on Saturday AND Sunday while this mommy was clicking away.  Bug is a handful sometimes and it's really tough to keep up with the amount of energy she has and there are no naps in between, so I know it was a lot to ask the hubs to be with her basically all weekend.  He's awesome and is really encouraging me to do what I love and what makes me happy.  Thanks, hubs! On Saturday I met up with an old friend to do shoot with her son for his 5th birthday!  Afterwards they came over and had a play date with Bug. YES, he is as full of energy as he looks.   :) On Sunday I was able to do a maternity shoot for a good friend...

Random Updates

Lots of the random thoughts and updates about Bug are on my Facebook page.  However, I didn't want to leave all of you behind who do not have a Facebook and are not lucky enough to see the random thoughts, so here's a compilation of some of them... She will eat and endless amount of veggies during Barney. Welcome to dinner, you big ol' dino. Anything to get her to eat veggies. Is it dangerous (for other people) if I get bug an umbrella? :/   Does anyone trust me to give my daughter her first hair cut? Anyone? :) I do remember a time when my mom LAST cut my hair and it was curly and we both regretted it. I had an asymmetrical (fro) cut before anyone else had it. Trendsetter? I think so.   Good news- Bug knows how to open a zipper. Good news- She can reach things in high places, which means she's growing.  Bad (and maybe even terrible) news- Half of my stuff is missing from my work bag.         God Bless, Kat

Water Creatures

Mommy and Bug had MLK day off so we headed to the aquarium for a play date with Auntie Elisa! Little girl, big tank. Introducing Duck to the penguins. Telling Auntie Elisa all about ducks. First time touching water creatures.  Gross.  So glad Auntie Elisa was there because Mommy does not do water creatures. Telling Auntie Elisa the colors of every fish- mainly the yellow ones. :)  She's really good at yellow. Mr. Polar Bear did not go over well. Get comfy.  Break time. As the 3 hour play date came to an end, there was a slight mini-meltdown that lasted all, but 2 minutes.  That's an improvement.  Laying in the pavement is not an improvement. After Daddy saw this picture later that night, Mommy got in trouble for letting Bug take Duck to bed. Oh, a meltdown?  Nothing a few bubbles can't fix. WARNING:  Do NOT eat bubbles. Dude, that is NOT the way to win her over. ...

"Cree-yong"

I'm back.  Exhausted.  Bug has been up to a lot these days.  A lot.  I cannot keep up and this mommy is slowly dying.  Okay, so I'm not dying, but I'm still exhausted!  Three days ago I found all of Bug's crayons in the container where we keep our trash bags.  That's odd and very unlike her to hide her precious crayons.  Whatever.  Moving on.  Last night I found where she had colored the kitchen wall blue.  Minutes later I discovered where she colored the bottom kitchen cabinets blue.  Did I mention the cabinets are stark white?  Yeah, they are.  Blue.  She could not have chosen a darker color.  So we've entered this phase huh?  The one where she writes on the walls and realizes it doesn't come off so she hid her "cree-yongs" (crayons).  I will, however, give her credit for trying to hide the weapons she used to destroy my kitchen.  Well done, smarty pants.  You win.  Daddy came hom...

Steps toward big girl status.

We've had a big breakthrough.  On New Years Eve, after dragging me upstairs, Bug begged me to put her in the pack and play at Mama and Papa's house so she could go to bed.  I thought it was because it was late.  And that probably was the reason.  However, after almost 10 days of Bug asking to go to bed and putting herself in her crib, last night she did the unthinkable.  She asked me to put her in her crib, with her books, toys, and blanket.  Then she read to herself (I could hear and see her from the monitor) and put herself to sleep .  No cries.  No whines.  Nothing.  She didn't even watch me leave her room.  Wha?!?!?!!?  For the first time since she was about 7 months, our little Buggy did not fight to the death before going to bed.  What a big girl! I snuck in while her night light was on, to take a pic.  Did she notice?  Nope. I did not sleep very well.  I kept thinking she'd wake up screaming...

What have I been up to?

THIS. *Our friend from church, Ann. And THIS.  *My friend Jackie's baby, Jerren. He's pretty cute, huh? I'm so thankful to have been able to capture these once-in-a-lifetime moments for both Ann and Jackie.  Thank you both for the opportunity! God Bless, Kat

17 month Bug

Happy 17 months and 2 days to this toddler! Honestly, there are no excuses.  The best pic I could get was where she was showing me how she washes her armpits.  Seriously.   Okay, so there's a bit too much flash and I was a bit too close. This picture is okay too. Half her face gone from kissing this thing. Her entire face gone because she's climbing up and down the rocking chair. Action shot.  Teaching from her desk. Pretty good! Ugh.  Mobility!  Faking an ouchie! Dear Buggy, We are trying to keep up with you in more ways than one.  Not only are you the fastest kid we know,  always on the move, but you're learning so much every day and sometimes we feel like it's a race just to keep up with all the new things you've learned.  We're trying, though.  Despite knowing only a few words, you sure are a talker!  (As if that's a surprise!)  From the moment you wake up, u...
