Curiosity Killed the Kat

I'm married to the most curious man.  If you've spent time with him, I  know you've noticed him falling behind a group walking, or disappearing completely because he's gotten distracted by some object that other people wouldn't even give two seconds to examine.  I'm sure he was born like this...curious. The look in his eyes alone tell me he's up to something... Most days, this just kills (or bugs) me because I run at a hundred miles an hour and have little to no time to stop and "smell the roses", as they say.  If you're not right in front of me or flagging me down (person or object), I won't see you and even if I do see you, you'll catch my attention for just one second and quickly get run over.  (WATCH OUT!) Wyatt and I are the complete opposite and I definitely welcome this difference to balance out our relationship. I realize that Wyatt is probably the most easy going guy I've ever met and notice that when he gets distracte...

"Paging Dr. Green"

I don't know if you already know, but I'm married to an actor.  Yes, that's right- an actor.  During a recent trip to Starbucks, after Wyatt and I placed our orders (iced coffee- the usual), the cashier kept staring at Wyatt to the point of uncomfortable.  She said to him, "Did you know you resemble the guy from...you know...that hospital show...no, not Grey's Anatomy, but the one from awhile ago."  As I giggled in the background, Wyatt stared at me in horror.  He knew it.  I responded with, "Dr. Green?  Anthony Edwards from ER?"  The cashier cheered with excitement.  She said, "YES!  That's the one!"  As I laughed and she grinned at Wyatt from ear to ear, Wyatt kept repeating, "No, no way...really?  No way." I've mentioned to Wyatt that although he does not look exactly like Anthony Edwards, he does, in a way, resemble him.  If he has to resemble him, Wyatt would prefer to resemble Anthony Edwards from the movie T...

Eggs

I love eggs.  Well, I lov ED eggs, anyway. There are so many ways to make eggs. Scrammbled... Hard boiled... Over easy/medium (in a sandwich would be my preference)... ...and as the "icing on the cake" (or in this case, topping on a burger). No matter which way you like it, eggs are a great.  It is because of eggs that I could eat breakfast for lunch, snack, or dinner.  Since this recent recall on eggs, I've had a bit a little a lot of hesitaton about eating eggs.  I didn't notice how much I'd miss it until this morning when I heated up a pan and reached for eggs, only to remember that I could not eat an egg sandwich (over medium), yolk slightly dripping out of bread. ::SIGH:: The news did say that until this egg recall madness goes away, we should all be cooking our eggs all the way through, well done, dry.  If you haven't already read about this egg "stuff", inform yourself here:  http://www.cnn.com/2010/HEALTH/08/23/eggs.salmonel...

Welcome, Baby Addison!

Last night at 7:58pm EST, Wyatt's brother, Jason and his wife, Mary welcomed their baby girl, Addison!  A BIG congrats to Mommy Mary & Daddy Jason! We can't wait to hold, kiss, and hug this baby girl!  Addison is the first grandchild on Wyatt's side of the family and I know for sure everyone is excited.  Mom will be in Atlanta for a couple weeks, helping the new parents (and their dog) adjust to having a baby in their lives.  After that, we're headed to Atlanta ourselves in late October (gifts in hand, or sent ahead of us via UPS). God Bless, Kat

"You got a bad attitude!"

"You got a bad attitude!" This phrase comes out of my niece, Myranda, as she mimics my brother because in all fairness, sometimes she does have a bad attitude, which usually leads to a time out... However, you should ask the question, "Don't we all have somewhat of an attitude"?  Okay, fine.  Maybe we don't all  have an attitude, but unlike my brother, I could never tell Myranda she has a bad atitude because I, myself have been known to have a [very] "bad attitude".  Yes folks, it started at a VERY young age...(and this isn't even bad yet). Grand Canyon (199?- something).  Without knowing the background story (well, even with knowing the background story), one could conclude that there was no need for this "bad attitude".  Still, this bad attitude followed me around this particular 199?-something day.  I look so out of place in this picture. They say all good things come out of something bad.  I wonder if this applies to havi...

Sooo many mothers!

I know I say I have the best Mama. Well, because I do! (To me, anyway!) In all this recognition of my Mama and what a super fantastic job she's done in raising her children, I need to mention the other wonderful women who played a BIG role in raising me, as well as my brothers, sister, and cousins. In Filipino culture it's pretty normal to be so involved in raising your relative's children. Growing up I found it weird that all my friends only had one mom, when I had Mama, Mamang, Mommy, and Jo. Who are these people? Well, you are about to find out. MAMA.   Gorgeous, right? You all know her.  If you've been following my blog, I would hope you know her!  She's my Mama! MAMANG.   My Grandmother.  Go ahead, say it.  I know you're thinking it.  My future self. MOMMY. (also known as Lola Mommy to my nieces).  She is my mom's younger sister. [left] Some people say I inherited my looks from her.  You judge. JO.   My mom's youngest...

Who's the owner?

Our cat- cute, pushy, talkative, sweet (sometimes), hungry (always!), and now, THE BOSS of our apartment.  A few weeks ago, I noticed McKayla was scratching her neck and biting her legs...A LOT.  Being the me that I am, I quickly attributed this to the worst possible case of the fleas.  I made an appointment at the groomers ASAP for a flea treatment and a bath.  This was McKayla's first appointment since we adopted her, so I was really picky about where to take her.  I had heard horror stories about what some groomers do to animals and how those animals walk away hurt or with awful haircuts.  EEK!  After reading review after review, I finally decided to take McKayla to http://www.bestlittlecathouse.com/ .  Wyatt dropped her off before work and it was my job to pick her up after work.  When I arrived at the The Best Little Cat House, they walked me to a private room the size of a small office.  There was a bed, food, water, LOTS of room...

Men will be boys

As a woman, I recognize that I am the complete opposite of my male counterparts.  As girls, we loved and played with barbies, dolls, etc.  The older we got, however, barbies became less and less attractive.  As an adult, you are your own "My Size Barbie".  :)  Instead of dressing up a doll about 12 inches tall, you dress yourself up! Men are different. Example #1:   As boys, they play with Nintendo (did I just age myself?), trucks, etc.  As they get older, they seem like they've gotten over these toys, but they don't.  When shopping at Toys R Us for a present, Wyatt stopped to tell me "how cool" the boys toys were (We were in the 5 years + section.) and proceeded to stop to fuss and play with each toy he found to be "cool".  He's 29 years old. Example #2:   Last Friday night, my sister and I went out with a girlfriend.  Because it was a girls night, we left our husbands at my apartment to keep each other company and fend for...
