The Tuesday following Memorial Day weekend, the day care sent out an email to all the parents informing us that a student broke out over Memorial Day weekend with hand, foot, and mouth disease. What the heck is that?!!?!? I looked it up. It's not cute, but apparently common for young babies. So here's the deal. I realize that the kid who broke out was in the "older" kids classroom (ages 2-3), but teachers and school directors go in and out of all the classrooms so of course I was insanely paranoid that Bug would have it too. Anyway, a week went by and at the end of last week, Bug was SUPER fussy. I attributed this to teething (or her natural temperament). Sunday night she had a slight fever and a little rash on her bottom. By little I mean little...like one. Okay, fine. One. Monday morning I discovered she had yet another little rash below her bottom lip. Okay, that's a coincidence. Monday afternoon after picking her up from day care I discovered a blister on the bottom of her big toe. Wow, okay. That's enough! This mom wasn't going to send her kid back to school to infect everyone else. That night, Bug was a MESS. She woke up in the middle of the night, screaming like she was about to die. Seriously. I truly believed there was more than teething behind these screams. She kept convulsing like she was poisoned. There was no consoling her...until...we handed her her musical puppy dog toy. Okay, so Mommy and Daddy loving on you, turning the lights on so you'll open your eyes won't work, but a toy will? Fine. Whatever makes you stop screaming.
This was the look on her face when she finally stopped screaming...30 minutes later.
She's pissed.
So, yesterday, I took the day off to take Bug to Dr. Nish to make sure she didn't have this foot, hand, mouth, whatever disease. Good news- she didn't. Dr. Nish checked out her rashes and said, "These don't excite me. This was all a coincidence. All the screams, the temperature increase are probably from teething. The best advice I can give you is...treat every tooth that's coming in as if it were the worst." Awesome. Well, back to day care you go! Apparently the ONE rash on her bottom and the ONE rash under her lip are from teething. The blister under her foot is from walking. Yeah...she's got blisters from walking. Maybe she should take a break. She must be walking too much?
We've been struggling with putting Bug down for bed because she never wants to be separated from us. Her separation anxiety is killing me. I feel so bad for her, but no matter how exhausted she is, she just won't go to bed. :*(
Anyway, here are some good moments...
This is our neighbor, Christine. Her mom is the one that gave us (and continually gives us) all of Christine's old baby clothes and toddler clothes. Thank goodness for her kind heart because Bug is growing so quickly and no matter how cheap baby clothes are, when you buy too many, it's not cheap anymore! :)
Christine invites herself to play with McKayla and Bug. She always has to tell me, "I love babies and I love Bug. I brag about her to all my friends....BUT...I don't want a little brother or sister." :) She does love Bug, though. I do love the company of a 7 year old when the hubs is running late coming home at night.
We make A LOT of noise with these.
Last night, Uncle Kris came over for some fun times. Although Bug was a little tired and hurting from her new tooth breaking through, she managed to give him a ton of smiles.
She loves showing her tooth!
Making a crawl for it.
God Bless,
Kat
