At church yesterday, the homily was geared toward dad (rightfully so, as it was Father's Day). The priest emphasized how important it was for dads to be "present" when they were around their children. Then he gave an examples of how a dad could do this. One example was when you walk through the door after work, no matter what has happened at work, leave it outside your home and try to not let that affect your children because when you come home, you need to be there for them- emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. I turned to the hubs and asked, "Are you listening?" He responded, "Don't I already do that?" Yes. He does.
Although there are some days that you just can't avoid the stress from work, I found myself being thankful to have a husband that whenever possible, makes a conscious effort to be present and available for his family. Even on the days he forgets to take some time out for himself, with an open heart, he tries even harder the next night to be even more present when he comes home. When the priest called all the dads up to the altar for a blessing, I truly felt so blessed that God would give me such a caring and hard working man as a husband. I am so proud of the dad he's become and can't wait to see how he evolves as a father, a husband, and a person.
We are so blessed. I love him.
God Bless,
Kat
