Heated Weddings

What better way to celebrate 7 years from the day I brought the hubs to a 104 degree wedding as my "plus 1," than with a 113 degree wedding?!?!  Seriously.  7 years ago yesterday, I asked the hubs (then friend) to accompany me to a wedding because my date had to work.  Whatever happened to that date, anyway?  Beats me, but I think I lucked out that day because since then, the hubs and I have been inseparable.

This weekend, we went to a wedding in Paso Robles while Bug stayed with Mama and Papa overnight.  Yay for more than 28 hours Bug-less. :)

On the road...

For two people who arrived in Paso Robles 2.5 hours before the wedding, we sure got to the wedding late enough.  I got some poor seats so this was the best first kiss shot I could get from where I was.  :(

The legs of the brave soul who wore mega heels to this wedding.

Because of the heat, the cocktail hour was moved from outdoors, indoors.  :)

The Parker Family!

While the photographer was getting up close and personal with the bride and groom, I snuck a shot from afar.  They looked too cute and it was the only shot I could get of them the entire night that wasn't too blurry.  They were on the move that night and everyone wanted a piece of them. :)

The cute family that asked if I would take their photo.  So I did.  Now...how do I get it to them?

It's good to be young.

So in love.

Two weird people dancing in the corner.  :)  Thanks to Sean, for capturing this not-so-frame-worthy moment.

The next day, we headed for home to our Buggy...after sleeping in. :)

Pretty much all I carry these days- the camera and the phone with the camera on it.

Almost home!  Anyone recognize where this pic was taken?  We have taken way too many trips up and down California, so this is my sign that we're near home.

Mr. and Mrs. Parker.  They have been married for over 40 years.  So amazed by the love they have and how they still, to this day, 40 years later look at each other with the same look they probably had 40 years ago when they got married.

Weddings are wonderful, are they not?  It's always such a great reminder of our own commitment to each other, and now that we have Bug, a reminder of what will happen one day, God willing, when she finds the man of her dreams.  WAH!  I feel so grateful for the hubs that  I can only pray Bug will find a man like him.  According to Daddy, it'll be different.  Here's a convo I had with the hubs not too long ago...

Me:  "I hope one day Bug finds a man like you."
Daddy:  "I don't."
Me:  "Wha?"
Daddy:  "I want her to find someone better than me."

Good luck to the guy who has to exceed the type of man Bug's daddy is because he is THE BEST.  It's hard to get better than that. :)

So good to come home to this.

She gave me so many consecutive kisses her nose hit my cheekbone.  :/

Lesson of the day:  Taking pictures is a hit or miss when drinking wine at cocktail hour...and the reception.
God Bless,
Kat

4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 month Cub (9, 10, 11 too)

Clearly I've missed a few monthly updates of the Cub.  I apologize.  We were busy and life has literally taken us for a whirlwind ride.  To be really honest, I lost a lot of motivation to write these past few months because I've every time I started to write, all I could think to write about was my grandpa, Papang, how much I've missed him, and the endless tears that came out when I thought of him.  Every time I reflected back on the moments with my kids and my family, I seemed to cry, thinking of how much he's missed even in the short 5 months he's been gone.  After months of tears and prayers, I feel like I'm officially starting to feel like I'm healing.  While I know I may not heal completely, I can function without tears flowing from my eyes every moment of silence. Cubby has grown quite a bit (to say the least) since my 3 month update.  Here is the gentle giant's growth in months 4, 5, 6, and 7. This weekend, Cubby turned 8...

A Kinder Grad

Kindergarten can really take a toll on the parents.  (Yes, I meant to say parents.)  I knew we were in for a lot of activities and volunteering, but I did NOT know that it would become a second job to be an involved school parent.  I was told that by volunteering and being involved, it would give your kids (and their classmates) all the benefits.  At a private school (especially a Catholic private school), if there aren’t any volunteers, there aren’t many activities.  So ultimately, I knew I had to participate.  Could I have cut down on the activities I chaired or took part in?  Sure.  Why didn’t I?  [Insert long sigh here.]  Because in the end, I realized that I wasn’t sending my child to a private school because it was better than the public schools in the area.  (We actually have great public schools in our district.)  I was sending my child to a private Catholic school so she could learn about her faith.  The most imp...

9 years later...

This is the story of a dentist-in-waiting-nomad, Angela (a.k.a. my sister, "Ate"-[for those who don't speak Filipino, pronounced "a-teh"]) and a basketball playing of an engineer. Freshman year: boy sees girl and never speaks to her. Senior year: boy befriends girl's sister and gets his chance. A winter formal came along. Boy asked. Girl accepted. Boy meets girl's brothers (eek!), mom, and dad (EEK!). They danced. Girl moves to San Francisco, then San Jose. Boy moves to San Jose. Boy moves back to Valencia. Girl stays in San Jose. This summer, girl will move back to Valencia. Soon, boy and girl will finally be getting married! 9 years later! I have yet to express how excited I am that my sister and Louie are finally getting married. (Not that they needed to tie the knot to officially make Louie a part of our family.) For nine years, Louie has become another big brother to me and an Uncle "Looouuuwweeeee" to my nieces- always willing to d...
