Messy McMessy

What's been happening in the D. household?  Well, now that we're almost 10 months into having a baby (who's not so much of a baby anymore), Bug has decided not to go to bed at 6pm anymore.  Instead, she has decided to take a nap at 6pm, wake up at 6:30pm-7pm and stay up all night (until 10pm). Seriously.  10pm.  This mommy cannot hang.  Those awesome dinners I was making every night have been tossed out the window and it's play time- all...the...time.  Daddy has been able to come home before 8pm these days (on most days, anyway) and Mommy has gotten her butt back to the gym.  It's only been a few days, but hopefully Daddy can come home every night with enough time for Mommy to run it off.  My saving grace at the gym- the individual TV's on the each treadmill.  Oh, how the Kardashians keep me going.  If it weren't for them, I would be off the treadmill in 10 minutes.  :) Now that Bug is getting older and she's making me bend down to pick her up and soon will be making me run after her, I need to stay in shape (or get to it).  Who needs strength training when you have an 18 pound Bug to carry around all day?

Speaking of running after Bug, we're probably almost there.  The crawling phase is probably going to be short.  She's also obsessed with trying to climb the box of pampers and this usually leads to a big THUNK on the floor.  We've had quite a few THUNKS lately while...

1-Trying to climb the couch
2-Trying to climb the bouncer
3-Trying to climb the pampers box
4-Trying to get under the glass table (which will soon be put in storage)
5-Trying to crawl under the crib
6-Trying to walk, holding the crib...with one hand
7-Letting go of the crib while standing
8-Letting go of the couch because we're so excited to see Daddy walking through the door
9-Trying to climb out of the tub (seriously!)

The last two weeks of mobility have been a whirlwind.  I am excited (not really) for Bug to become more mobile.  Pray for us, her poor little head that she keeps hitting, her poor little toes she keeps squishing, and for our sanity!  :P

Although I feel blessed every single day of my life, lately, I've been even more thankful for my family (maybe because we've seen so many on both sides of our families this month), and especially for the hubs.  The other night before I went to bed, I got to thinking (an unusual moment of silence where I could actually hear myself think) and realized that even though some little things could be better, the most important things were already great.

The hubs and I really do have the most amazing and supportive family and friends, and of course, the most adorable, sweet (when she wants to be), charming and funny baby.  It really could not get any better.  I know we say and feel blessed all the time.  However, when I take a look at my life (all the good and bad), I really could not want anything more, or feel anymore blessed.  God is so amazing.

Anyway, it's random photo day!  Enjoy!

This is Ella and her Baby.  She likes to poke her eyes out, hold her hands while baby stands, and eat her toes. I'm pretty sure if we ever have a baby #2, that we should keep Bug away from him/her.
Check out the cute dress Uncle Kris and James got for Bug on her cruise!
Judging much?
Look at those cute "itty bitty" legs!
The many sides of Daddy and Bug.
The many sides of Mama and Bug.
The many faces of Bug.  These pics show 4 completely different kids!
And of course...the two people who made Bug.  (Again, you're welcome.)
Messy McMessy over here.  Because this mommy was so desperate to eat dinner before the gym, this was not a battle she was willing to fight.  When I got her out of the chair, she had cereal and bananas all over her diapers.  I then took her to the bathroom for a bath and she unclenched her fists and out came bananas and cereal...straight...into...the...TUB.  After we were done with bath time, I looked in the tub and there were banana and cereal pieces everywhere.  Awesome.  So excited to clean that up.
God Bless,
Kat

4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 month Cub (9, 10, 11 too)

Clearly I've missed a few monthly updates of the Cub.  I apologize.  We were busy and life has literally taken us for a whirlwind ride.  To be really honest, I lost a lot of motivation to write these past few months because I've every time I started to write, all I could think to write about was my grandpa, Papang, how much I've missed him, and the endless tears that came out when I thought of him.  Every time I reflected back on the moments with my kids and my family, I seemed to cry, thinking of how much he's missed even in the short 5 months he's been gone.  After months of tears and prayers, I feel like I'm officially starting to feel like I'm healing.  While I know I may not heal completely, I can function without tears flowing from my eyes every moment of silence. Cubby has grown quite a bit (to say the least) since my 3 month update.  Here is the gentle giant's growth in months 4, 5, 6, and 7. This weekend, Cubby turned 8...

A Kinder Grad

Kindergarten can really take a toll on the parents.  (Yes, I meant to say parents.)  I knew we were in for a lot of activities and volunteering, but I did NOT know that it would become a second job to be an involved school parent.  I was told that by volunteering and being involved, it would give your kids (and their classmates) all the benefits.  At a private school (especially a Catholic private school), if there aren’t any volunteers, there aren’t many activities.  So ultimately, I knew I had to participate.  Could I have cut down on the activities I chaired or took part in?  Sure.  Why didn’t I?  [Insert long sigh here.]  Because in the end, I realized that I wasn’t sending my child to a private school because it was better than the public schools in the area.  (We actually have great public schools in our district.)  I was sending my child to a private Catholic school so she could learn about her faith.  The most imp...

9 years later...

This is the story of a dentist-in-waiting-nomad, Angela (a.k.a. my sister, "Ate"-[for those who don't speak Filipino, pronounced "a-teh"]) and a basketball playing of an engineer. Freshman year: boy sees girl and never speaks to her. Senior year: boy befriends girl's sister and gets his chance. A winter formal came along. Boy asked. Girl accepted. Boy meets girl's brothers (eek!), mom, and dad (EEK!). They danced. Girl moves to San Francisco, then San Jose. Boy moves to San Jose. Boy moves back to Valencia. Girl stays in San Jose. This summer, girl will move back to Valencia. Soon, boy and girl will finally be getting married! 9 years later! I have yet to express how excited I am that my sister and Louie are finally getting married. (Not that they needed to tie the knot to officially make Louie a part of our family.) For nine years, Louie has become another big brother to me and an Uncle "Looouuuwweeeee" to my nieces- always willing to d...
