[Double] Date Night & A Growth Spurt

It's Monday and unlike most Mondays, I'm feeling really energized (no coffee, either!).  Even though we had a couple of wake-up calls from Bug, I'm awake and ready to tackle on the week before a much needed, fun-filled long Memorial Day weekend.

This weekend we had the opportunity to celebrate a belated Mothers Day with my family with a Friday night dinner.  It had been awhile since Bug has been at my parents' house, so it took awhile to get adjusted.  However, once she adjusted...she ADJUSTED.  Bug is a ham.  Once she knows what makes you laugh, she just keeps going.  She is so adorable and so fun-loving (when she wants to be, anyway).

On Saturday, we went took my Grandpa (Papang) back to San Diego and had a short visit with Mamang too!  It started out okay- a Bug full of laughs playing with Mamang, but then she got tired...and realized she wasn't at home...and we just needed to leave.  :/  It was fun while it lasted.  Check out what my cousin made my grandparents.  This was just too cute and I had to take a picture of it!  Papang as Stitch and Mamang as Tigger.
On Saturday night, we dropped off Bug with Mama and Papa and went out (YES, OUT!) with Ninang and Ninong.

Sometimes we clean up nicely.  And look, no pureed food or formula anywhere in sight!
I don't know if you know this, but in Valencia, everyone goes to the theater.  There is nothing else to do.
 Ninang (so preggo) and Ninong.
Guess who the Godparents of their soon-to-be little girl is?!?!  Wyatt and myself!  Yahoo!
After dinner, these tired parents, a preggo Ninang and Ninong all had enough energy to make it to a movie! Before the movie, we had some time to kill so we went on a shopping spree...for Bug.  Did you know that in three weeks, Bug has outgrown pretty much everything she has?  Because her torso is so long, she wears 9-12 month onesies (fitted).  Anything bugging her legs, forget it.  Those have got to be 12-18 month sizes.  This girl's legs are too...umm...lovable for 9-12 month bottoms.  Since I want her to breath and for the clothes to last, I bought 18 month clothes.  To my surprise, they actually fit length-wise, but still a bit too wide.  Eh...there's room to grow. :)
The hubs, saving our spot in line for the movie he's been wanting to see for awhile- Avengers.  (By the way...it was amazing.  Go see it.)
After church on Sunday, we met up with Nathan and his mommy and daddy for a relaxing day, playing in grass, sharing stories, and learning to share toys.
You know what's strange?  Normally they don't even notice their own toys, but as soon as someone else takes it, they suddenly realize how much they "love" it.  Sharing went well.  :P
There is always time for milk...even in the middle of play time.  (Yes, those shorts are size 12 months.)
Afterwards, we went home, Bug took a nap- a real one...and Mommy got to re-organizing Bug's clothes.  This is what an entirely new wardrobe looks like for spring and summer- all dresses and rompers.  This 9 month growth spurt literally hit me by surprise.
All the changes in Bug seem to be so drastic these days, without warning, and come about in a week, rather than a month.  Remember how she just learned to crawl last week?  Well, THIS is what she learned this weekend.

Just for fun, here are some photos of Bug before I go to work...
New habit- crossing her legs (as much as she can, anyway).  Not a bad habit to form. :)

It was a busy weekend, but really fun (as always).

God Bless,
Kat

4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 month Cub (9, 10, 11 too)

Clearly I've missed a few monthly updates of the Cub.  I apologize.  We were busy and life has literally taken us for a whirlwind ride.  To be really honest, I lost a lot of motivation to write these past few months because I've every time I started to write, all I could think to write about was my grandpa, Papang, how much I've missed him, and the endless tears that came out when I thought of him.  Every time I reflected back on the moments with my kids and my family, I seemed to cry, thinking of how much he's missed even in the short 5 months he's been gone.  After months of tears and prayers, I feel like I'm officially starting to feel like I'm healing.  While I know I may not heal completely, I can function without tears flowing from my eyes every moment of silence. Cubby has grown quite a bit (to say the least) since my 3 month update.  Here is the gentle giant's growth in months 4, 5, 6, and 7. This weekend, Cubby turned 8...

A Kinder Grad

Kindergarten can really take a toll on the parents.  (Yes, I meant to say parents.)  I knew we were in for a lot of activities and volunteering, but I did NOT know that it would become a second job to be an involved school parent.  I was told that by volunteering and being involved, it would give your kids (and their classmates) all the benefits.  At a private school (especially a Catholic private school), if there aren’t any volunteers, there aren’t many activities.  So ultimately, I knew I had to participate.  Could I have cut down on the activities I chaired or took part in?  Sure.  Why didn’t I?  [Insert long sigh here.]  Because in the end, I realized that I wasn’t sending my child to a private school because it was better than the public schools in the area.  (We actually have great public schools in our district.)  I was sending my child to a private Catholic school so she could learn about her faith.  The most imp...

9 years later...

This is the story of a dentist-in-waiting-nomad, Angela (a.k.a. my sister, "Ate"-[for those who don't speak Filipino, pronounced "a-teh"]) and a basketball playing of an engineer. Freshman year: boy sees girl and never speaks to her. Senior year: boy befriends girl's sister and gets his chance. A winter formal came along. Boy asked. Girl accepted. Boy meets girl's brothers (eek!), mom, and dad (EEK!). They danced. Girl moves to San Francisco, then San Jose. Boy moves to San Jose. Boy moves back to Valencia. Girl stays in San Jose. This summer, girl will move back to Valencia. Soon, boy and girl will finally be getting married! 9 years later! I have yet to express how excited I am that my sister and Louie are finally getting married. (Not that they needed to tie the knot to officially make Louie a part of our family.) For nine years, Louie has become another big brother to me and an Uncle "Looouuuwweeeee" to my nieces- always willing to d...
