2 month Bug

Happy 2 months to our Bug!

Bug had her 2 month check-up with Dr. Nishibayashi (a.k.a. Dr. Nish) today and she got 5 vaccinations.  I'd name them all, except...well...I can't remember them all.  Whatever they were, 5 were shots and one was oral.  I absolutely hate taking shots myself and to see Bug take them just kills me.  (I know. I'm supposed to be the brave one for Bug, but it's hard!  I'm working on it!)  Today's been a rough day and because of the vaccines, Bug has been even more fussy than usual during the day.  :(  Bug whimpered throughout her entire two hour nap today.  It's sad to see your baby in pain and to not be able to do anything about it.  (That's one of those parent things, right?)  So the only way I could deal with it, was to cry too.  I'm sure I'll get a whole lot better at this bravery stuff (or at least putting up a front in front of Bug)...in time.

She's still in a little bit of pain...sore from the shots.
(Don't worry.  Dr. Nish said she's too young to remember he's the "bad guy" who tries to keep her healthy.)

This is the band-aid. There was one on each leg.  OUCH!

Poor kid...holding Daddy's hand, trying to get over it.  I have a feeling it's gonna be a long night!

I can't believe it's already been two whole months since I've given birth to Bug and even though it's overwhelming (especially between 9pm-2am), I still feel really blessed...and seeing her smile every morning for a couple of hours makes it all worth it.  :)

Last weekend, Wyatt and I had to attend a wedding and we left Bug with her first real babysitters, Ninong Louie and Ninang Angela.  Because my sister had to work until 4pm, Ninong Louie was on his own until she came home.  It must not have gone so badly because on Sunday morning when we were leaving, Ninong Louie asked when he could babysit again. :)  I love how much they love her.  It reassures me that she has the best godparents around and that they will always look out for her and care for her.

Don't worry...she was just mad because she hates being burped.

She was back to laughing in no time.  Can you say "drama queen"?

I can't wait to see what this coming month has in store.  :)  Bug is now "talking" and smiling A LOT.  I can only imagine what it'll be like once she starts using real words. :)

God Bless,
Kat

4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 month Cub (9, 10, 11 too)

Clearly I've missed a few monthly updates of the Cub.  I apologize.  We were busy and life has literally taken us for a whirlwind ride.  To be really honest, I lost a lot of motivation to write these past few months because I've every time I started to write, all I could think to write about was my grandpa, Papang, how much I've missed him, and the endless tears that came out when I thought of him.  Every time I reflected back on the moments with my kids and my family, I seemed to cry, thinking of how much he's missed even in the short 5 months he's been gone.  After months of tears and prayers, I feel like I'm officially starting to feel like I'm healing.  While I know I may not heal completely, I can function without tears flowing from my eyes every moment of silence. Cubby has grown quite a bit (to say the least) since my 3 month update.  Here is the gentle giant's growth in months 4, 5, 6, and 7. This weekend, Cubby turned 8...

"Thank you for being a friend..."

[And now, a short introduction with the theme song to the sitcom, The Golden Girls] "Thank you for being a friend, Traveled down the road and back again. Your heart is true your a pal and a confidant. And if you through a party, Invited everyone you ever knew... You would see the biggest gift would be from me, And the card attached would say thank you for being a friend." This morning, Rue McClanahan, who played Blanche Devereaux on my favorite show, The Golden Girls, passed away. If you know me, you could understand how upset I might be.  (Quote from Blanche:  " There is a fine line between having a good time and being a wanton slut. I know. My toe has been on that line." ) The Golden Girls was, is and will always be my favorite show...EVER. Within the last few years, both Estelle Getty (who played Sophia) and Bea Arthur (who played Dorothy) passed away as well and that in itself was a tragedy; for we all know what an amazing duo they made!    (Quote fro...

What if...

I was on the phone today with my brother, Kyle, and was telling him about my emotionally charged moment in a parking lot as I dropped off the hubs at work after having lunch with him.  As I drove through the aisle of the parking lot, a parked car quickly backed out of it's spot without looking.  My natural instinct, of course, was to stop, rather than move forward.  Thankfully, however, the car quickly stopped itself from hitting the front passenger side of my car, where the hubs was sitting.  I pulled into a spot to calm myself down.  My heart was racing.  Wyatt turned to me and asked, "Are you okay?"  I just could not find the words to respond.  (Strange, I know.)  I was breathing so heavily and I think he realized I was about to freak out and said, "We're fine.  She didn't hit us."  He was right.  The driver had stopped quickly enough and everyone was safe.  However, I still could not get myself to calm down.  3, 2...
