Baby Addison and the ATL

Last week we flew to Atlanta, Georgia to meet baby Addison in person.  Wyatt and I flew from LAX to Denver, where we were supposed to catch our connecting flight to Atlanta.  It's funny (or not funny) how things work out...

When we arrived in Denver, we both received a notification on our cell phones (Thanks a lot, United!) informing us that our connecting flight from Denver to Atlanta had been cancelled and that United had taken it upon themselves to redirect us to Washington, D.C. instead.  Nothing against D.C., but my destination was Atlanta!  After listening to the rest of the notification, we then found out that from D.C., United had conveniently (or not!) put us on another flight, that would arrive in Atlanta at 12am- 6 hours later than our original expected arrival.  (That wasn't an inconvenience or anything.)  When we got to D.C., we had 4 hours to spare, so Wyatt took it upon himself to...learn how to braid my hair?

By the time we landed in Atlanta, got our bags and got to Jason & Mary's house, we were exhausted.  Meeting baby Addison had to wait until the morning.

Good morning, Addison!

We decided to go for a morning stroll around the neighborhood...

My responsibility was to watch out for the "pup".  It was more like he was walking me. :/

Mary met up with us while she was on her run.

Dream neighborhood.

Wyatt being initiated as a real uncle- diaper changing time!  Jason showing Wyatt where all the goods (a.k.a. diapers and rash cream) are located.

Wyatt being himself and examining the diaper.

Uncle Wyatt afraid to see what's inside...

TA-DA!

Dressed in the Puma sweater we gave her!

Mommy and Addison

Nice to meet you, Uncle Scott!

Now, the majority of Addison's photos were taken in her car seat, but that's because she was so busy taking us on tours of her town!

Off to the corn maze in north Georgia!

Here we goooooo...

Yes!  We got one!  Feeling motivated...

Men.  Never wanna ask for directions. :P

Mary and Addison, waiting for the men to figure it out. :)

Yes!  Another one!

This is the end!

Here comes the last one!!

Can you believe this thing turns into a gorgeous butterfly?!?!  Ick!

Addison holding Uncle Wyatt's hand finger.

After all that corn-mazing around, it was time for some refreshments.

The aftermath.

Addison felt we spent enough time at the restaurant so we packed up and left.  Daddy Jason taking all the stuff back to the car.  (Yes, I offered to help, but the man's got it under control!)

Morning play time.

Chit-chatting around with Auntie Kat.  Boy can this girl talk! (Don't mind the morning hair.)

BIG laughs with Auntie Kat!

Paying close attention to my words of wisdom. :P

Uncle Scott's turn...

What an amazingly beautiful moment.  I'm so glad I turned around just in time to capture it!

Wyatt's going to make a great dad one day...

Another precious moment between Uncle Wyatt and Addison.

Addison in her pumpkin outfit.  Happy Halloween!

We took a visit to Mary's dad's house.  He grows orchids...LOTS of beautiful orchids...some in season, some not.  The next few photos are from our tour of his greenhouse.

Every orchid's got a story...

View of the park from Mary & Jason's house, where all the neighbors got together while the kids paraded in costumes. :)

Uncle Scott bought Addison a new outfit!

Wait!  We had to get the most important part!  CUTE!

This girl is all smiles!

View from the parking lot at the aquarium.

Addison needed to be fed, so we stopped by a park for awhile just to relax.

Scott, always busy working.  It's tough to be The Man.

Swinging never gets old. Ha!

After her feeding, we got back to the car and this little cutie was getting a diaper change and look how happy she is!  ALL SMILES from this gal!

Boy, is she tired!

Hang out time on the balcony with Dad.

Nothing, but love in this family.

Addison had reading time with Uncle Wyatt, Auntie Kat, and Uncle Scott.  Although reading time went smoothly with Uncle Wyatt and Auntie Kat, reading time with Uncle Scott was another story.

The following photos were about two minutes before a very rare mini crisis from Addison.  :)

We had a great time in Atlanta and really miss Jason, Mary, and Addison already!  We can't wait to see them again and I'm sure by then, Addison will have changed drastically.  Kids change so fast at this age...::sigh::.  All the more reason to visit more often!

*Things I learned in Georgia:
1- You cannot buy alcohol on Sundays, except at a restaurant.  So stock up on Saturday night!
2- They serve rabbit (yes, hippity hoppity) in your enchiladas.  No, this was not a specialty restaurant.
3- Leaves actually do change colors in the fall.
4- Caterpillers are super ugly.  No wonder they change into butterflies!
5- There can be a thousand combinations of street names that include the word "Peach".
6- You can learn about Jimmy Carter's entire life without having to leave the ATL airport.
7- That one infant could fart so much.  Yup, ladies and gents...she really is just like her Uncle Wyatt!

God Bless,
Kat

4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 month Cub (9, 10, 11 too)

Clearly I've missed a few monthly updates of the Cub.  I apologize.  We were busy and life has literally taken us for a whirlwind ride.  To be really honest, I lost a lot of motivation to write these past few months because I've every time I started to write, all I could think to write about was my grandpa, Papang, how much I've missed him, and the endless tears that came out when I thought of him.  Every time I reflected back on the moments with my kids and my family, I seemed to cry, thinking of how much he's missed even in the short 5 months he's been gone.  After months of tears and prayers, I feel like I'm officially starting to feel like I'm healing.  While I know I may not heal completely, I can function without tears flowing from my eyes every moment of silence. Cubby has grown quite a bit (to say the least) since my 3 month update.  Here is the gentle giant's growth in months 4, 5, 6, and 7. This weekend, Cubby turned 8...

A Kinder Grad

Kindergarten can really take a toll on the parents.  (Yes, I meant to say parents.)  I knew we were in for a lot of activities and volunteering, but I did NOT know that it would become a second job to be an involved school parent.  I was told that by volunteering and being involved, it would give your kids (and their classmates) all the benefits.  At a private school (especially a Catholic private school), if there aren’t any volunteers, there aren’t many activities.  So ultimately, I knew I had to participate.  Could I have cut down on the activities I chaired or took part in?  Sure.  Why didn’t I?  [Insert long sigh here.]  Because in the end, I realized that I wasn’t sending my child to a private school because it was better than the public schools in the area.  (We actually have great public schools in our district.)  I was sending my child to a private Catholic school so she could learn about her faith.  The most imp...

9 years later...

This is the story of a dentist-in-waiting-nomad, Angela (a.k.a. my sister, "Ate"-[for those who don't speak Filipino, pronounced "a-teh"]) and a basketball playing of an engineer. Freshman year: boy sees girl and never speaks to her. Senior year: boy befriends girl's sister and gets his chance. A winter formal came along. Boy asked. Girl accepted. Boy meets girl's brothers (eek!), mom, and dad (EEK!). They danced. Girl moves to San Francisco, then San Jose. Boy moves to San Jose. Boy moves back to Valencia. Girl stays in San Jose. This summer, girl will move back to Valencia. Soon, boy and girl will finally be getting married! 9 years later! I have yet to express how excited I am that my sister and Louie are finally getting married. (Not that they needed to tie the knot to officially make Louie a part of our family.) For nine years, Louie has become another big brother to me and an Uncle "Looouuuwweeeee" to my nieces- always willing to d...
