Recurring Guest Star

Happy Monday! Happy?  Sure.  Unprepared kind of Monday?  More accurate.  I'm not sure what's going on with my cell phone, but my alarm has re-programmed itself 5 times in the last week, ultimately making me late on quite a few days.  The benefit of this?  Getting to see Bug in the morning! She sure makes it tough to leave the house with all her morning cuteness!

The only responsible "person" in our house that can get up without an alarm clock. :) We can always count on McKayla to wake us up to give her food.
In the middle of the night, Bug woke up, turned on her music and lights and put herself to sleep again!  Good girl!  Miss Independent.
This weekend we got to spend a lot of family time together.  We are so busy these days that sometimes it's difficult to find time for family bonding.  On Friday, Daddy and I picked up Bug and we headed for an early dinner out.  It's great having dinner so early because we don't have to wait to be seated and there are minimal customers in the restaurant (just in case Bug decides to scream). :)

Our Miss Messy McMessy.
By the way, we've become those people.  You know, the ones who's kid leaves a trail on the floor?  As an ex-server, this seriously bothers me.  :/  Somethings...most things are just out of my control and not worth the fight.  We try to clean up as much as possible, but if you've ever eaten with Bug, you know the mess that is...Bug.

What can I say?  She eats with determination.  I feel bad for that poor single tooth that has to work on that huge piece of bread!

On Saturday we headed to Baby Lucas' baptism at the Cathedral!
God Bless Steve and Lisette for being the first of our group to have a second baby! :)  They make it look so easy!
Three of the cuties.  (Oh, and their babies too!)
 Daddy socializing.
After the baptism, Bug helped Mommy and Daddy with some grocery shopping.  Oh, "Guck" came too.
I'll take this time to introduce Baby Lo (again).  She'll be making a ton of appearances on this blog.  We'll just call her a recurring guest star on this sitcom of "A Bug's Life". :)

On Sunday before heading to church we had to feed a hungry Bug.  Daddy gave her an entire banana.
 On cue. What a ham!
On Sunday we got to spend some time with Lo and Bug is finally beginning to feel a bit of jealousy when Daddy, Ninang, and Ninong are hanging out with Lo.  Oh, growing up.  It's tough.  Because of this, we've been calling Bug's baby doll, "Baby Lo" so she can get learn how to be around such a tiny newborn.  For the most part it goes well and then "Whack!"  There goes Bug's arms in the air!  Check out some of the practice runs we've had with baby doll "Baby Lo".

Baby Lo loves to tap on the box too!  (This went pretty well and Bug was amused.)
Then we shared our YBike and took Baby Lo for a ride.
In the middle of this she said, "No, no."
 Practicing holding Baby Lo.
 Good cousin.
Then she quickly got over it and took Baby Lo out of her YBike.
Then she ran Baby Lo over...
...and walked away without her.  That went well?
Apologizing to Baby Lo for throwing her off the YBike.  We're learning a ton of things in this process!
This YBike business is awesome...for Bug.  It helps her move around like nobody's business.
 Cat food?
Mommy:  "Don't touch the cat food, Bug."
Bug:  "No, no?"
Mommy: "That's for McKayla."
Bug:  [Baby talk]...[points to McKayla]..."Meow, meow"...[touch food].
 Nice try, Bug.
Big Baby, Small World.
Small box?
These are some pre-Baby Lo.  Ninang is just so late in sending them to me.  :)  Better late than never!
 Check out that face!
More of Baby Lo in what was once Bug's outfit.  I cannot even imagine Bug being this tiny!  It seems so long ago!  [Uterus aching.]  Ha!
On Sunday, I got my first pedicure in 6 months.  The first time post-Bug was when I left Daddy with Bug for the first time at 5 months.

True story.  When I was younger I used to wonder why my mom never took the time to do things like get a pedicure, go shopping, etc...the usual awesome womanly alone time stuff.  My mom's response was always that I would understand when I became a mommy.  I vowed I would always try to take some time for myself to do all the aforementioned things.  Little did I know the reality of being a parent/mother.  Now I get it.  No matter how much I want to get a pedicure or replace my old jeans, or even just buy a new blouse, someone else always comes first, whether that's Bug or Daddy.  I don't so much mind that, though. Making sure my family is happy and taken care of is my number one priority.  I'll live.  Just like I did yesterday, one of my favorite things to do is to schedule a hair cut or pedicure and cancel last minute.  Daddy was purely annoyed that I was going to cancel last minute so I went.  (By last minute I mean my appointment was for 2pm and I was going to cancel at 1:56pm.)  Thank goodness I went because those feet needed some good ol' TLC.
This should last another 6 months, right?  Ha!

God Bless,
Kat

4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 month Cub (9, 10, 11 too)

Clearly I've missed a few monthly updates of the Cub.  I apologize.  We were busy and life has literally taken us for a whirlwind ride.  To be really honest, I lost a lot of motivation to write these past few months because I've every time I started to write, all I could think to write about was my grandpa, Papang, how much I've missed him, and the endless tears that came out when I thought of him.  Every time I reflected back on the moments with my kids and my family, I seemed to cry, thinking of how much he's missed even in the short 5 months he's been gone.  After months of tears and prayers, I feel like I'm officially starting to feel like I'm healing.  While I know I may not heal completely, I can function without tears flowing from my eyes every moment of silence. Cubby has grown quite a bit (to say the least) since my 3 month update.  Here is the gentle giant's growth in months 4, 5, 6, and 7. This weekend, Cubby turned 8...

A Kinder Grad

Kindergarten can really take a toll on the parents.  (Yes, I meant to say parents.)  I knew we were in for a lot of activities and volunteering, but I did NOT know that it would become a second job to be an involved school parent.  I was told that by volunteering and being involved, it would give your kids (and their classmates) all the benefits.  At a private school (especially a Catholic private school), if there aren’t any volunteers, there aren’t many activities.  So ultimately, I knew I had to participate.  Could I have cut down on the activities I chaired or took part in?  Sure.  Why didn’t I?  [Insert long sigh here.]  Because in the end, I realized that I wasn’t sending my child to a private school because it was better than the public schools in the area.  (We actually have great public schools in our district.)  I was sending my child to a private Catholic school so she could learn about her faith.  The most imp...

9 years later...

This is the story of a dentist-in-waiting-nomad, Angela (a.k.a. my sister, "Ate"-[for those who don't speak Filipino, pronounced "a-teh"]) and a basketball playing of an engineer. Freshman year: boy sees girl and never speaks to her. Senior year: boy befriends girl's sister and gets his chance. A winter formal came along. Boy asked. Girl accepted. Boy meets girl's brothers (eek!), mom, and dad (EEK!). They danced. Girl moves to San Francisco, then San Jose. Boy moves to San Jose. Boy moves back to Valencia. Girl stays in San Jose. This summer, girl will move back to Valencia. Soon, boy and girl will finally be getting married! 9 years later! I have yet to express how excited I am that my sister and Louie are finally getting married. (Not that they needed to tie the knot to officially make Louie a part of our family.) For nine years, Louie has become another big brother to me and an Uncle "Looouuuwweeeee" to my nieces- always willing to d...
