Yreka, Baby Lo, and a YBike

I'm sick.  So today's blog (and I know you've missed my blog posts) will be more of a so-called picture blog- less words, more pictures.  Before I overwhelm you with the hundreds of photos from our 5-day trip, I need to give you some background.  Daddy's hometown friend, B got married this weekend in Yreka, so we packed Bug up and headed up north.

Before we left, I fed Bug dinner.  Bug has learned the phrase, "Uh-oh" from day care and knows exactly when to use it.  I noticed that McKayla loves to sleep in Bug's room lately.  Well, that's because Bug now gives her food.  As she drops the food from her high chair, she says, "Uh-oh."
We broke the trip in half and stopped in Sacramento to see my brother and his family.  We left Thursday night to take advantage of Bug's sleeping time.  She slept the entire way.  The bad news is that when we got there at 2am, she decided to stay up a couple more hours.  By the time she got to bed, it was around 4:30am and she woke up to two excited cousins waiting to play with her. :)

Before leaving Sacramento for Yreka, we made our usual Starbucks stop.  This time Uncle Kyle joined us!
Not sure how hard you can squeeze a cutie like Bug, but I think Uncle Kyle tested her to the limits! :)  She's cute.  Can you blame him?
After another 4 hours, one stop to release some of Bug's energy, we finally made it to Yreka!
 Our handsome driver. :P

Bug and nature = no go.  (Obviously a city gal like Mommy.  Just like Mommy, she'll get used to it.)

 See?
We had a TON of play time.
TaTa taught Bug how to play some drums.  Oh, boy...it made her want to dance.
She hung around the kitchen the entire time we were there...naked...
...and using the chair as a walker...
 ...trying to open drawers...
 ...and playing with cars...
She even learned how to "play" the drums. :)
On Saturday we headed to Oregon for the wedding.  NaNa and TaTa babysat Bug for the night.  I prayed for them...that she wouldn't be so particular that night...that she wouldn't show them how hard and how long she could scream.

Don't worry.  This was half an hour before the wedding.  We prayed that it would clear on our way there.
HE heard our prayers because it cleared long enough for the ceremony.  God answers all prayers. :)
The hubs is an awful photographer.  Ha!
 Bride and Groom
My FAVORITE photo of the day.
 How cute is she!??!?!
 Best food EVER.
LOVE
We got home to find that Bug was amazing for NaNa and TaTa.  It was when she woke up in the middle of the night and saw us in the bed next to her crib that she started to cry, probably realizing we had been gone all day.  :/  (She was also teething. Awesome.)

The following day, we had lots of quality time with cousins!
Bug and Uncle Ben.  She loves the "big guy."
Bug also took over NaNa's bathroom.
While Bug and Daddy took a nap, the rest of us played.
 Madysen is a GREAT babysitter.
I find that I have been "Bug-ged" a lot.  That means that every once in awhile (always), I find that I have new food stains all over my pants, shirts, etc...all from Bug.
I told you- great babysitter.
We even got to do an early first birthday celebration for Bug!
Scared of ribbons?  Weird.  Frame worthy, no?
 A YBike?!?!?!  SWEEET!
 Loved the cardboard.
Time to go home.  :( So sad.
We stopped in Sacramento on our way back home, but this time had way more time to play.  By "play" I mean...dig through bags and make a mess.

You thought I loved Starbucks?  My brother is the king of Starbucks customers.
At this restaurant a little boy was yelling for fun and Bug turned around and yelled right back.  When he stopped, she turned to him and yelled at the top of her lungs.  Fun game. Seriously.
We are a family of people who love laying around on the floor.
Oh, and sleeping on it.  Good morning!
Our other babysitter, Miss Kaycee had a slumber party with Bug.
From Sacramento to LA, Bug woke up once.  How did we know she was awake?  THIS is how.
When we got to LA, we headed straight to the hospital.  While in Yreka, my niece decided to make her appearance.  My sister went into labor two days before we got home.  So of course we had to meet the new cutie!  Baby "Lo" is so cute and will most definitely be bff's with Bug.
Pretty sure Bug thought Baby Lo was a doll...until she cried.  Then I think it registered that this was the new competition.  Hahaa.
Bug stealing her Ninang from Baby Lo.
Bug making sure Baby Lo's charts look alright.
Later that night we put the YBike together and Bug took her new ride for a spin. Thrill seeker.
On the 4th of July, we welcomed Baby Lo home!
Don't worry.  Bug pushed her swing...really hard.  We're working on it.
My Aunt was in town from NJ and she hasn't seem Bug since September.  So this was a treat for all of us!
Bug even brought her YBike to Mama and Papa's house.  Whatever keeps her busy, away from the new baby, and not pulling things out of bags.
Then we headed to the Koll family 4th of July BBQ.  We watched the fireworks from all areas as we drove home, but Bug did last awhile at the party.  When we got home, we took her out of the car seat, put her into bed and she never woke up .  This morning, she was still wearing her 4th of July outfit.  I'm not about to wake a sleeping baby just to put her into some PJ's.  Not a battle I want to fight. :)
 God Bless,
Kat

4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 month Cub (9, 10, 11 too)

Clearly I've missed a few monthly updates of the Cub.  I apologize.  We were busy and life has literally taken us for a whirlwind ride.  To be really honest, I lost a lot of motivation to write these past few months because I've every time I started to write, all I could think to write about was my grandpa, Papang, how much I've missed him, and the endless tears that came out when I thought of him.  Every time I reflected back on the moments with my kids and my family, I seemed to cry, thinking of how much he's missed even in the short 5 months he's been gone.  After months of tears and prayers, I feel like I'm officially starting to feel like I'm healing.  While I know I may not heal completely, I can function without tears flowing from my eyes every moment of silence. Cubby has grown quite a bit (to say the least) since my 3 month update.  Here is the gentle giant's growth in months 4, 5, 6, and 7. This weekend, Cubby turned 8...

A Kinder Grad

Kindergarten can really take a toll on the parents.  (Yes, I meant to say parents.)  I knew we were in for a lot of activities and volunteering, but I did NOT know that it would become a second job to be an involved school parent.  I was told that by volunteering and being involved, it would give your kids (and their classmates) all the benefits.  At a private school (especially a Catholic private school), if there aren’t any volunteers, there aren’t many activities.  So ultimately, I knew I had to participate.  Could I have cut down on the activities I chaired or took part in?  Sure.  Why didn’t I?  [Insert long sigh here.]  Because in the end, I realized that I wasn’t sending my child to a private school because it was better than the public schools in the area.  (We actually have great public schools in our district.)  I was sending my child to a private Catholic school so she could learn about her faith.  The most imp...

9 years later...

This is the story of a dentist-in-waiting-nomad, Angela (a.k.a. my sister, "Ate"-[for those who don't speak Filipino, pronounced "a-teh"]) and a basketball playing of an engineer. Freshman year: boy sees girl and never speaks to her. Senior year: boy befriends girl's sister and gets his chance. A winter formal came along. Boy asked. Girl accepted. Boy meets girl's brothers (eek!), mom, and dad (EEK!). They danced. Girl moves to San Francisco, then San Jose. Boy moves to San Jose. Boy moves back to Valencia. Girl stays in San Jose. This summer, girl will move back to Valencia. Soon, boy and girl will finally be getting married! 9 years later! I have yet to express how excited I am that my sister and Louie are finally getting married. (Not that they needed to tie the knot to officially make Louie a part of our family.) For nine years, Louie has become another big brother to me and an Uncle "Looouuuwweeeee" to my nieces- always willing to d...
