Thankful for Turkey

This Thanksgiving, we packed up our bags and took Bug on her first ever road trip to Sacramento.  My brother and his family live there. Making trips to Sacramento is nothing new for us, so taking Bug there was pretty exciting for me.  Yes, I dreaded what could happen on the road- she could scream the whole way, but she didn't.  Because it was our first road trip, I made sure we had plenty of time to get there before the holiday traffic hit.  We decided to leave Wednesday morning.  We made our first parenting mistake on the road- we woke her up to feed when we should have let her sleep as long as possible.  So, on the way there, we made 3 stops because Bug couldn't get back to sleep.    (*Obviously a parental fail.)  We decided to leave on Saturday morning as well, to avoid the mess on the 5 freeway and made it home in roughly 7-7.5 hours (including the stops to feed).  So really we made pretty good timing!

Bug had a blast with her cousins and it was so amazing to watch them love on her.  I could not be more thankful for the awesome cousins Bug has, who watch her every move and offer a helping hand whenever possible- from getting the wipes and diapers, to feeding her.  It makes me even more excited to watch them grow up together. Before we left, Madysen even offered to come back to Los Angeles with us and got halfway into the car before my brother could tell her it wasn't happening.  :*(  I wish they lived nearby.  I guess Bug will have to wait to see her cousins until December, when we make a stopover in Sacramento, on our way to Yreka for Christmas.

Now, for a few pics of the weekend...

Diaper changing time.  When you don't have an SUV, this is how you change a diaper...

4:30a.m. wake-up call at the hotel. :)  Bug's first hotel stay!

Cousin photo!

Our car was full of Bug's stuff and we just couldn't pack the play mat.  So THIS is how we improvised and made her a mobile! Don't judge us.  This was a better alternative to Wyatt trying to build a bridge with pillows on each side of her and then hanging the guitar over her head.

Ate Kaycee learning how to carry Bug on her own.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!  (Thanks to Grandma for the dress!)

Peek-a-Boo time with Mady and Myranda

After a long Turkey Day, we got back to the hotel and found our usually loud Bug, sound asleep. Now, if we could just make these moments last a little bit longer. :)

The next day, Kaycee learned how to feed Bug. What a great babysitter!

Just a random naked, changing the diaper photo. Look at those arms!

Because my sister and brother-in-law couldn't make it to Sacramento until Friday, we saved our Thanksgiving meal until then.  Our first ever Friday Thanksgiving!  At lunch that day, while eating In-N-Out, we all said what we were thankful for and Mady couldn't have said it better..."I'm thankful for turkey!"...even though we hadn't had any yet.

Bug finally let Ninong Louie hold her without tears.  See?  You just have to catch her in the early A.M.

Goodbye photos... :*(

On the road again...

Bug with the new toy from her cousins. :)

Why does she always tilt her head so far back when she feeds?

Took her out for a stretch break.  Tired Bug...

And obviously she is in no rush to get home because apparently it's play time...

...and girl chat time...

Bath time at home...

And just for fun...Bug and her crazy hair.  She is so cute!

God Bless,
Kat
