Finally!

A Thanksgiving update.  Sorry I'm late.  I took a zillion photos (no joke) and have yet to finish editing them, but I did pick out some of my favorite memories (some of which are blurry because kids move too darn quickly) from our Thanksgiving at Grandma and G-Pa's house in Oregon.  :)

Since this was going to be the longest road trip Bug has ever taken to date, we decided to break up the trip.  We stopped in Sacramento to see my brother and his family.  (No photos.  I suck.  It was rainy and I wasn't about to make everyone model for me.)

After Sacramento, we headed to Medford to see the hubs' sister and her fam.

While at Auntie Heather's house, the cousins took it upon themselves to go on babysitting duty.  This mommy was NOT going to complain.  However, I fear that Bug may have been quite confused as she was then referring to Madysen as mama.  :/  Madysen did carry her around the entire time we were there.  For a second I thought Bug forgot how to walk.

Auntie Heather's cute little backyard complete with a wagon...

...and a little home for her chicken!

Auntie Heather and her other kids- the chicken!

I die.  Bug has always loved Madysen.  Mommy has always loved that Madysen will babysit and follow Bug around so I don't have to. :)

After leaving Medford we drove another 3 hours and finally made it to Grandma (now "Nama") and G-Pa's house!  Nama had set up an entire play station for the kiddos and until the cousins arrived, it would be all for Bug (and Daddy?).  :)

Bug spending some time with Daddy's "puppy".

She did not want G-Pa to carry her.  ::sigh::  Don't feel bad for her.  She's faking it.

I can't say enough how awesome it was to watch Bug spend time with her Nama.  Bug even had time to show Nama how to use the iPhone. :/

Stickers.  The new "in" thing.

The next day the cousins finally arrived and Bug got to meet her cousins, Addison and Callan for the very first time!

I LOVE capturing moments when the hubs looks at Bug this way.  It makes me love him even more.  Take it all in, Daddy.  In a flash she'll be going to prom.  WAH!

That night while the cousins were in bed, Bug stayed up to sing "Happy Birthday" to Auntie Mary!

Check out those facial expressions!  She is his daughter.

For having just met G-Pa a couple days prior, Bug sure has grown an attachment to him.  :)

Nama and the girls doing some coloring...

That day, we headed out to see the sights.  No outfit is complete without pink cowgirl boots. Right?

Just a girl and her G-Pa.

We have no idea how to dress out kid for this cold weather.  Her outfit consists of:  long-sleeved shirt, fleece sweater, vest, pants, socks, boots, hottest hat ever, blanket, mittens, and a couple toys on top of her body.  She could not move, but I'm sure she was warm. :)

Thank you, Auntie Mary for organizing craft time!

Callan is (almost) on the move.  He's getting ready to take his first steps and guess who was there to boss him around and tell him what to do?  My kid.  Surprised?  Poor, Callan.  I'm sure he'd love to move to that spot, Bug, but he just can't yet. :/

On Thanksgiving we did a mini photo shoot that lasted what seemed like a minute so we could get out of the cold, get the kids a nap, and finish prepping dinner.

My two favorite subjects.

At first I did not think this was going to go well.  They seemed confused.

Then it got a ton better!

They're so cute together, aren't they?

Nama and her babies.

I know we live so far away from one another, but I'm so thankful that Bug got to meet her G-Pa, cousins, Auntie Mary, and Uncle Jason.

On Thanksgiving, before bed, Bug threw a tantrum...a huge one.  One hour.  Nama even suggested we bring her to the ER so they could calm her down.  Poor, Nama.  Bug scared her to death.  Mommy, however, was not phased.  What's the total number of these awful tantrums?  Oh.  This would make 4.  She's not even 2 years old yet.  She did not hold back just because her family was there.  This girl was not in the mood to impress anyone.  After almost one week of being amazing, no fits, nothing...she just let it all out.  Can you blame her?  New places, new people all within such a short amount of time.  She was on overload.  I'd like to look at it like Bug is the same person no matter who she's around.  :/ She's real like that.  Ha!

By the way, Bug was amazing on the road.  She is becoming a seasoned traveler.  Good thing because we drive everywhere and all our families live so far away that we'll be making plenty of trips.  I'm so thankful that with each new day, Bug is becoming more of a big girl and we can count on her to pull through things like this 16 hour road trip.  It's amazing how scared we are to go on these trips with her, but on top of this trip for Thanksgiving, she's done three 9-hour trips to and from Yreka and each time she has been amazing.

Things Bug learned to say and do at Nama and G-Pa's house:
1- "Tank Coo" = Thank you.
2- "Peesh?"  = Please

*(And if you're G-Pa, you don't even have to ask her to say them. She willingly gives them to you.)

God Bless,
Kat

4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 month Cub (9, 10, 11 too)

Clearly I've missed a few monthly updates of the Cub.  I apologize.  We were busy and life has literally taken us for a whirlwind ride.  To be really honest, I lost a lot of motivation to write these past few months because I've every time I started to write, all I could think to write about was my grandpa, Papang, how much I've missed him, and the endless tears that came out when I thought of him.  Every time I reflected back on the moments with my kids and my family, I seemed to cry, thinking of how much he's missed even in the short 5 months he's been gone.  After months of tears and prayers, I feel like I'm officially starting to feel like I'm healing.  While I know I may not heal completely, I can function without tears flowing from my eyes every moment of silence. Cubby has grown quite a bit (to say the least) since my 3 month update.  Here is the gentle giant's growth in months 4, 5, 6, and 7. This weekend, Cubby turned 8...

A Kinder Grad

Kindergarten can really take a toll on the parents.  (Yes, I meant to say parents.)  I knew we were in for a lot of activities and volunteering, but I did NOT know that it would become a second job to be an involved school parent.  I was told that by volunteering and being involved, it would give your kids (and their classmates) all the benefits.  At a private school (especially a Catholic private school), if there aren’t any volunteers, there aren’t many activities.  So ultimately, I knew I had to participate.  Could I have cut down on the activities I chaired or took part in?  Sure.  Why didn’t I?  [Insert long sigh here.]  Because in the end, I realized that I wasn’t sending my child to a private school because it was better than the public schools in the area.  (We actually have great public schools in our district.)  I was sending my child to a private Catholic school so she could learn about her faith.  The most imp...

9 years later...

This is the story of a dentist-in-waiting-nomad, Angela (a.k.a. my sister, "Ate"-[for those who don't speak Filipino, pronounced "a-teh"]) and a basketball playing of an engineer. Freshman year: boy sees girl and never speaks to her. Senior year: boy befriends girl's sister and gets his chance. A winter formal came along. Boy asked. Girl accepted. Boy meets girl's brothers (eek!), mom, and dad (EEK!). They danced. Girl moves to San Francisco, then San Jose. Boy moves to San Jose. Boy moves back to Valencia. Girl stays in San Jose. This summer, girl will move back to Valencia. Soon, boy and girl will finally be getting married! 9 years later! I have yet to express how excited I am that my sister and Louie are finally getting married. (Not that they needed to tie the knot to officially make Louie a part of our family.) For nine years, Louie has become another big brother to me and an Uncle "Looouuuwweeeee" to my nieces- always willing to d...
