Ouch!

Bug had her 4 month check-up today and boy was everyone surprised!  I think they're so used to Bug screaming all the time when we're there, that they were pleasantly surprised when we came in with a very alert Bug, all smiles and giggles.  I'm happy to update you with Bug's stats:

Weight:  13 lbs., 12oz.
Height:  24 1/4 inches

Dr. Nish looked straight at Bug and said, "You're not growing too much or too little.  You're JUST PERFECT."

Well, Dr. Nish, I don't think I could have said it better myself.  Although, I am her mother and some people might say I'm being biased. :P

Bug also got her second round of five (YES, FIVE!) shots today.  With how vocal Bug has become, you can only imagine how loud it was in that examination room.  To avoid forcing you to listen to Bug's shrieks (and she waited til the second shot to start), I didn't take any video or photos of her during the process.  I did, however, take some after photos.

Before I get to the after photos, here's a fun video of Bug, waiting for the doctor to come in to examine her.  AAAAAANNNNNDDDD...she's only got diapers on!  CUUUUUUTTTEEEE!

That was fun.  Now let's see the after photos...

Of course, semi-good behavior during the shot deserves a milky formula reward. :)  Drinking and whining all at once.  Is this girl a multi-tasker or what?!?!?!?!

Bug is growing at what seems like a rapid rate and we're trying to take it all in.  In the midst of work and everyday errands, and chores, sometimes I feel like we forget to soak in all the cuteness that is Bug.  I mean really...she's pretty darn cute...no matter how little she smiles.

That's all for now.  We're headed to Yreka for Christmas next week and I'm sure there will be plenty of pics when we get back.  If I don't get a chance to blog until after the holidays, happy holidays!  We have so much to be thankful for every year...and for the hubs and myself, we feel extra blessed this year with giggles, drool, and smiles.

God Bless,
Kat

  1. Her reaction to you is priceless. And then that last picture. She clearly isn't happy. Poor thing must've felt like she was tricked. Hahah.

4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 month Cub (9, 10, 11 too)

Clearly I've missed a few monthly updates of the Cub.  I apologize.  We were busy and life has literally taken us for a whirlwind ride.  To be really honest, I lost a lot of motivation to write these past few months because I've every time I started to write, all I could think to write about was my grandpa, Papang, how much I've missed him, and the endless tears that came out when I thought of him.  Every time I reflected back on the moments with my kids and my family, I seemed to cry, thinking of how much he's missed even in the short 5 months he's been gone.  After months of tears and prayers, I feel like I'm officially starting to feel like I'm healing.  While I know I may not heal completely, I can function without tears flowing from my eyes every moment of silence. Cubby has grown quite a bit (to say the least) since my 3 month update.  Here is the gentle giant's growth in months 4, 5, 6, and 7. This weekend, Cubby turned 8...

"Thank you for being a friend..."

[And now, a short introduction with the theme song to the sitcom, The Golden Girls] "Thank you for being a friend, Traveled down the road and back again. Your heart is true your a pal and a confidant. And if you through a party, Invited everyone you ever knew... You would see the biggest gift would be from me, And the card attached would say thank you for being a friend." This morning, Rue McClanahan, who played Blanche Devereaux on my favorite show, The Golden Girls, passed away. If you know me, you could understand how upset I might be.  (Quote from Blanche:  " There is a fine line between having a good time and being a wanton slut. I know. My toe has been on that line." ) The Golden Girls was, is and will always be my favorite show...EVER. Within the last few years, both Estelle Getty (who played Sophia) and Bea Arthur (who played Dorothy) passed away as well and that in itself was a tragedy; for we all know what an amazing duo they made!    (Quote fro...

What if...

I was on the phone today with my brother, Kyle, and was telling him about my emotionally charged moment in a parking lot as I dropped off the hubs at work after having lunch with him.  As I drove through the aisle of the parking lot, a parked car quickly backed out of it's spot without looking.  My natural instinct, of course, was to stop, rather than move forward.  Thankfully, however, the car quickly stopped itself from hitting the front passenger side of my car, where the hubs was sitting.  I pulled into a spot to calm myself down.  My heart was racing.  Wyatt turned to me and asked, "Are you okay?"  I just could not find the words to respond.  (Strange, I know.)  I was breathing so heavily and I think he realized I was about to freak out and said, "We're fine.  She didn't hit us."  He was right.  The driver had stopped quickly enough and everyone was safe.  However, I still could not get myself to calm down.  3, 2...
