"Give him a hand."

Today marks week 36, which also happens to be my last day at work before maternity leave (woohoo!).  In the last two weeks I've grown increasingly tired...I'm talking I can barely move my legs or open my eyes kind of tired.  All of a sudden I feel exhausted from pregnancy and the over 100 degree heat last week just did not help out.  (However, I watched the news the other day and this week/weekend should bring slightly better weather.  Thank goodness!)

Last Friday, the hubs and I celebrated our 5 year anniversary.  Yup, I can't believe we've been together for 5 years!  We spent the day playing hookie (a.k.a. Wyatt had no work and got to leave early, so I left work too).  We had a romantic lunch at Subway and he even got me flowers!

THIS is what an almost 9 month pregnant woman looks like when she's hungry!

After lunch, we went home to rest (because that's what a pregnant girl needs to do!), went to see a matinee movie at 3:30pm (because that's what a pregnant girl needs to do to stay awake during a movie!), had dinner at Morton's Steakhouse, and were back home at 9:30pm (because that, too, is what pregnant girls do!).

For awhile we've had things just piling up in the nursery, with space only for a walkway to the window and closet.  So, on the 4th of July, Daddy-to-be and I spent the ENTIRE day finally reorganizing Ella's room- putting away her clothes, buying toy bins and baskets, and putting together the final pieces of furniture together.  (I'd show you a picture of the final result, but it's not quite so final yet.  Once it's done, I'll post a picture.)  We still have a few things we need to purchase, but for the most part, the baby has a room that you might just be able to call a nursery by next weekend!  Go parents!

Daddy-to-be assembled the following things within 2 weeks, which really was 2 days (1 each week):  1-Baby's dresser
2-Stroller
3-Car seat installed and ready to be approved by the CHP
4-Snap 'N Go stroller
5- Baby letters on the wall

*He's amazing, right?  I guess he must be nesting too!  What did I do while all of this was being assembled?  Why, I had my legs up on the medicine ball, rocked myself in a chair and supervised, of course!  My job is never done!  Just kidding...kinda.

It's been awhile since a belly shot, so here are the most current ones...

Week 35

 Week 36

I'm drastically changing every single day and looking forward to this little girl's arrival.  Her entire body has stretched itself to the borders of my tummy and there's no doubt that she's trying to make her way downward for her big arrival date!   Daddy-to-be and I took an infant safety and CPR class at the hospital the other night and now we feel like we've got to get going on the baby proofing because even though she can't walk yet, by the time she is able to, we won't have time to baby proof anything!  I'm kind of excited about baby proofing because that also means everything is McKayla (the cat/first born) proof!

We also just finished our childbirth classes and feel overwhelmed with information about labor and delivery.  We're going to try to relax and go with the flow because afterall, no matter how you plan out your delivery, the baby's got her own plan.  (Not even born yet and she's already got the upper hand.  :P )

*Before sharing some advice from our childbirth instructor at our last class last night, please know that the content of this advice might be just over PG-13.  :P

After giving the men advice on how to deal with postpartum and being there for the mommy, the instructor proceeded to give the women some "advice" that went a little something like this...

Instructor:  "Ladies, six weeks of recovery for you is a long time for men to wait- a very long time.  Sooo...if daddy has been helpful and giving you a hand, maybe you should just GIVE HIM A HAND (if you know what I mean!)."

HAHAHAAHA!  What kind of a class is this!?!?!?!?  (By the way, our instructor has eight children and  is a grandmother!)

Have a great day, folks!

God Bless,
Kat

4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 month Cub (9, 10, 11 too)

Clearly I've missed a few monthly updates of the Cub.  I apologize.  We were busy and life has literally taken us for a whirlwind ride.  To be really honest, I lost a lot of motivation to write these past few months because I've every time I started to write, all I could think to write about was my grandpa, Papang, how much I've missed him, and the endless tears that came out when I thought of him.  Every time I reflected back on the moments with my kids and my family, I seemed to cry, thinking of how much he's missed even in the short 5 months he's been gone.  After months of tears and prayers, I feel like I'm officially starting to feel like I'm healing.  While I know I may not heal completely, I can function without tears flowing from my eyes every moment of silence. Cubby has grown quite a bit (to say the least) since my 3 month update.  Here is the gentle giant's growth in months 4, 5, 6, and 7. This weekend, Cubby turned 8...

A Kinder Grad

Kindergarten can really take a toll on the parents.  (Yes, I meant to say parents.)  I knew we were in for a lot of activities and volunteering, but I did NOT know that it would become a second job to be an involved school parent.  I was told that by volunteering and being involved, it would give your kids (and their classmates) all the benefits.  At a private school (especially a Catholic private school), if there aren’t any volunteers, there aren’t many activities.  So ultimately, I knew I had to participate.  Could I have cut down on the activities I chaired or took part in?  Sure.  Why didn’t I?  [Insert long sigh here.]  Because in the end, I realized that I wasn’t sending my child to a private school because it was better than the public schools in the area.  (We actually have great public schools in our district.)  I was sending my child to a private Catholic school so she could learn about her faith.  The most imp...

9 years later...

This is the story of a dentist-in-waiting-nomad, Angela (a.k.a. my sister, "Ate"-[for those who don't speak Filipino, pronounced "a-teh"]) and a basketball playing of an engineer. Freshman year: boy sees girl and never speaks to her. Senior year: boy befriends girl's sister and gets his chance. A winter formal came along. Boy asked. Girl accepted. Boy meets girl's brothers (eek!), mom, and dad (EEK!). They danced. Girl moves to San Francisco, then San Jose. Boy moves to San Jose. Boy moves back to Valencia. Girl stays in San Jose. This summer, girl will move back to Valencia. Soon, boy and girl will finally be getting married! 9 years later! I have yet to express how excited I am that my sister and Louie are finally getting married. (Not that they needed to tie the knot to officially make Louie a part of our family.) For nine years, Louie has become another big brother to me and an Uncle "Looouuuwweeeee" to my nieces- always willing to d...
