This morning Wyatt and I went to see Dr. Lee again for another ultrasound. He wanted us to come back when he thought Ella's heart would be more developed so he could take a clearer photo of it for his records. So, we went and according to Dr. Lee, Ella's heart was in tip top shape.
Dr. Lee was full of jokes this morning at 8a.m. (that's my kind of doctor!). Just to be on the safe side, I did ask him to confirm that this baby will be an Ella and not a Kody. (I've heard the stories of mistakes and now that I'm registering for lots of pink items, I wanted to be sure.) :) Dr. Lee confirmed that Ella will be arriving. I proceeded to ask him how there can be mistakes with an ultrasound that seemed so clear and his response to me was, "Well, sometimes with baby boys, there's shrinkage with all the cold water in there and it makes it look like it's a girl." (PAUSE. Nod of the head.) YES, he said it! It took Wyatt and myself a few seconds...(PAUSE. LOOK OF SHOCK!), but then we got it. Dr. Lee is a comedian! We love this guy!
After a more truthful explanation as to why mistakes can occur, we had yet another difficult time seeing Ella's face because she apparently likes to always have her right hand over her face. This is one of the clear photos we got.
*Please take note that in EVERY photo we took today, Ella was pouting...
(Could she be anything like Mommy?)
...and had her hands over her ear and face. Dr. Lee had to not-so-gently poke my tummy to get her to move her arm for two seconds to see her face. ::sigh:: She hates the paparrazi. :P
"No pictures, please."
Dr. Lee also confirmed that Ella is just under a pound- just a bit smaller than normal, but not by much and absolutely nothing to worry about since she is growing normally and everything is in proportion. I was shocked since my What to Expect When You're Expecting book clearly told me the baby would be a pound (if not more) by now. How is a first time mom supposed to know what to expect when her What to Expect When You're Expecting book is not accurate? Hahaha. (Did you follow me on that?)
Unless directed by my primary OBGYN, Wyatt and I will no longer be seeing Dr. Lee since he strictly does second trimester genetic screening. However, after Ella arrives, we will definitely be seeing him again...just for laughs.
I'm all about the "Dr. Lee [this]..." and "Dr. Lee [that]..." because again, he's the best! I was starting to worry that Ella wouldn't look a thing like me and Dr. Lee ended our appointment with, "...and I think Ella looks just like both of you." What a great guy! He listens to everything we say!
One last photo...
Yet another day of being thankful for this opportunity to be a parent and to bring a baby into this world...
God Bless,
Kat

Haha you guys crack me up. I love it! =).
ReplyDeleteLove this... such a funny title/blog post.:) GREAT pictures and happy to hear it was a good report at your appointment! I'm glad you had such a great doctor, too. One of my genetic screeners wasn't super friendly. We all need a Dr. Lee in our life who realizes what a happy, joyous time this is!
