Instagram Holidays

I catch a ton of shots on my camera phone.  As crappy as it is, it's what's on hand and you can pretty much get a complete glimpse of my everyday with it.  So, here's what I collected over the holiday break.

Before we left, I had to get the car serviced-- something the hubs normally does.  While waiting for the car, I managed to get in some mommy alone time-- an entire meal of a breakfast panini and Starbucks.  I posted this on Facebook and one of my friends said, "You know you're a mom when you consider alone time waiting for the car to get serviced."  Truth.
Remember those Christmas cards that almost never went out?  Thanks to my brother, Kris for designing them and placing the order, my sister for helping me pick them up, label them, and seal them. They went out the day before we left for Oregon.  I did get a few back.  At first I thought it was a fluke, but then I started to get messages from friends telling me they received them, but the address was incorrect.  One said, "By the grace of God it arrived with the wrong address."  Another said, "Not sure how it got to us, but it did."  God really was on my side.  He knew how desperate I was to get them out that even with the incorrect addresses, they still made it to their homes.  If you didn't get your card, I'm pretty sure I wrote the incorrect address on there.  My apologies.
 Road trip time!
A certain Bug has gotten wind that to make Mommy and Daddy stop the car on the longest road trip in life is to cry, "I need to potty.  I mean, I need to poop!"   Unfortunately, she didn't realize we were stopping on the side of the road to use her portable potty.  She thought we would pull into a restaurant or something so she could run around.  Kid FAIL.  We're putting over on the road.  It turns out that this was the trick she pulled so she could avoid wanting to nap in the car.  Sneaky sneaky.
Cousin time in Sacramento before heading to Oregon.
 CA-OR border.
 GPa and Buggy during breakfast.
Getting ready to see Santa for the first time!
Excited to tell Santa what she wants for Christmas.  "I want a mermaid.  I'm at GPa's house."
 Story time with Santa's helpers.
 Grandma and GPa's house. :)
 The most precious moment...ever.
Woke up next to this sleeping beauty each day at Grandma's house.
 Love these two.
The margarita GPa made Mommy on Christmas Eve.  Turns out taking pictures while drinking this is almost impossible.
 Movies with Grandma and Daddy.
Christmas morning.  Someone refused to pee when she woke up.  Waiting to open her presents.
 More movies.
Errands with Grandma and Uncle Scott.
Our lunch stop in Klamath Falls, OR on the way home.
Napa with my family before heading back to LA.
 Lo sitting on Bug.
The day before NYE, we stopped to see Mama at work!
13 different fruit for a smooth new year.  (Don't ask.)
When we got back from Oregon, our buddies, C, C2, and their parents came over to play!
See? There's so much that doesn't get captured with the real camera.  :)

God Bless,
Kat

4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 month Cub (9, 10, 11 too)

Clearly I've missed a few monthly updates of the Cub.  I apologize.  We were busy and life has literally taken us for a whirlwind ride.  To be really honest, I lost a lot of motivation to write these past few months because I've every time I started to write, all I could think to write about was my grandpa, Papang, how much I've missed him, and the endless tears that came out when I thought of him.  Every time I reflected back on the moments with my kids and my family, I seemed to cry, thinking of how much he's missed even in the short 5 months he's been gone.  After months of tears and prayers, I feel like I'm officially starting to feel like I'm healing.  While I know I may not heal completely, I can function without tears flowing from my eyes every moment of silence. Cubby has grown quite a bit (to say the least) since my 3 month update.  Here is the gentle giant's growth in months 4, 5, 6, and 7. This weekend, Cubby turned 8...

A Kinder Grad

Kindergarten can really take a toll on the parents.  (Yes, I meant to say parents.)  I knew we were in for a lot of activities and volunteering, but I did NOT know that it would become a second job to be an involved school parent.  I was told that by volunteering and being involved, it would give your kids (and their classmates) all the benefits.  At a private school (especially a Catholic private school), if there aren’t any volunteers, there aren’t many activities.  So ultimately, I knew I had to participate.  Could I have cut down on the activities I chaired or took part in?  Sure.  Why didn’t I?  [Insert long sigh here.]  Because in the end, I realized that I wasn’t sending my child to a private school because it was better than the public schools in the area.  (We actually have great public schools in our district.)  I was sending my child to a private Catholic school so she could learn about her faith.  The most imp...

9 years later...

This is the story of a dentist-in-waiting-nomad, Angela (a.k.a. my sister, "Ate"-[for those who don't speak Filipino, pronounced "a-teh"]) and a basketball playing of an engineer. Freshman year: boy sees girl and never speaks to her. Senior year: boy befriends girl's sister and gets his chance. A winter formal came along. Boy asked. Girl accepted. Boy meets girl's brothers (eek!), mom, and dad (EEK!). They danced. Girl moves to San Francisco, then San Jose. Boy moves to San Jose. Boy moves back to Valencia. Girl stays in San Jose. This summer, girl will move back to Valencia. Soon, boy and girl will finally be getting married! 9 years later! I have yet to express how excited I am that my sister and Louie are finally getting married. (Not that they needed to tie the knot to officially make Louie a part of our family.) For nine years, Louie has become another big brother to me and an Uncle "Looouuuwweeeee" to my nieces- always willing to d...
