Executive Summary of "Es-a-con-dio"

At a lot of offices, when a report is drawn up, they have these fancy "mini" reports called Executive Summary Reports for the upper up people who don't have much time to read the real report that you put all your hard work, sweat, and tears into.  They're busy.  You know.  I decided you might all be too busy to be reading about my almost week-long family vacation to Escondido (to Bug, "Es-a-con-dio").  So instead of bombarding you with a thousand pics from my real camera, I will provide you with an Executive Summary of our trip to Es-a-con-dio, using my Instagram pictures and maybe incoporate some of the cute pictures from a camera.  I'll admit it now.  My Executive Summary may be for you (whom I consider Executives in your own right). but not much of a summary. :)  Enjoy!

Goodbye, L.A.

Lunch break in Carlsbad...

Practicing her writing before her meal arrives.

...which also turned into a shopping break.  Sunglasses for my two babies.

We made it!  Hello, Lo!

It is apparent that these two, together, can cause a ton of trouble.

Chatting it up with Papa before bedtime.

Sunday was our only day with my parents since they had to get back to work, so we made the most of it and spent the majority of the day at the pool!

After she fell in head first (thanks, Dad!), Daddy decided to take a picture with her.  She looks so happy.

Wants NOTHING to do with the pool.  Ever.  Again.

Even though Bug didn't enjoy the pool- day1, we sure did!  :)  She just stood by the pool with Mama, telling us to get out.

For the tired parents of two very active toddlers.

Sunday morning cartoons for these two kiddos.  Mine is half naked.  Surprised?

Spending a little quality time with Lo Bear before Buggy wakes up!  :)

Lo- doin' it big girl style.

Whatever you two are up to, stop it please.

Off to the breweries!  For the dads.

Bye bye, brewery!

This trip would not be complete without a dramatic Bug refusing to talk to her parents for singing the wrong song.  Heesh!

Farmer's Market at the resort.  :)

Monday night, before Ninang, Ninong, and Lo had to go home.  :(

Saddest moment of my parental life- watching Bug watch Ninang, Ninong, and Lo leave and seeing her break down in tears.

Of course the only way to rectify this situation was to let her stay up later than usual.  Parental guilt.  If you know Bug, she's usually the first to jump up and push you out the door.  She knows her limits with people and how much she can take so when she's overstimulated, she pushes you out so she can rest.  Well, apparently she did not have enough Ninang, Ninong, and Lo love because her heart was breaking...and so were our's!

The next morning, Bug woke up and searched for Lo and Ninang.  Sad.  Obviously we needed to distract her from missing her "fam-mim-mee".  Beach day it is!  Off to Carlsbad!

Because you can only look cute with this much drool when you're this little. :)

My lunch dates.

Nope.  Refuses to get out of the jogger to touch the water.  This was going to take some work.

Finally on the beach towel.  Progress.

Near the water.  More progress.

Yahoo!  She did it!  (With a ton of help from Daddy.)

That was rough.  Time for a break.

These two are so alike.  So inquisitive.  I'm just not this curious of a person.  What are they staring at?!?!?!?!

New phrase- "It's bight [bright]!  Sungasses [sunglasses]!"  Diva.

And just because it's so much cuter when the picture is enlarged. :)  You're welcome.

On the way back to the condo, Bug decided (yet again) that we don't know how to sing.

Since swimming day one was a complete failure, we decided to give it another go, at one of the smaller pools, with less people, to give Bug time to readjust to being in the water.

Unlike her previous trip to the pool, Bug really enjoyed this time around.

When we arrived at the condo, we noticed that housekeeping was in the middle of their mid-week cleaning spree.  Instead of giving them room to work, Bug decided it'd be best that she help out.  She loves helping with chores.  Hey, I'll take advantage of it whenever I can because I know one day I'll have to force her to help.

That night at the resort, they were holding a dancing under the stars night.  Of course we had to take our little jitter bug!  :)

Admiring the pros from afar.

Dancing in the parking lot...to polka and dixie music.  Who knew?

Awesome "summary," right?  :)

Thanks to my parents for setting up a great vacation at their timeshare.  We had a great time and now I'm seriously missing everyone.  SAD.

By the way, apparently my kid knows our real names.  Who taught her this?

God Bless,
Kat

4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 month Cub (9, 10, 11 too)

Clearly I've missed a few monthly updates of the Cub.  I apologize.  We were busy and life has literally taken us for a whirlwind ride.  To be really honest, I lost a lot of motivation to write these past few months because I've every time I started to write, all I could think to write about was my grandpa, Papang, how much I've missed him, and the endless tears that came out when I thought of him.  Every time I reflected back on the moments with my kids and my family, I seemed to cry, thinking of how much he's missed even in the short 5 months he's been gone.  After months of tears and prayers, I feel like I'm officially starting to feel like I'm healing.  While I know I may not heal completely, I can function without tears flowing from my eyes every moment of silence. Cubby has grown quite a bit (to say the least) since my 3 month update.  Here is the gentle giant's growth in months 4, 5, 6, and 7. This weekend, Cubby turned 8...

A Kinder Grad

Kindergarten can really take a toll on the parents.  (Yes, I meant to say parents.)  I knew we were in for a lot of activities and volunteering, but I did NOT know that it would become a second job to be an involved school parent.  I was told that by volunteering and being involved, it would give your kids (and their classmates) all the benefits.  At a private school (especially a Catholic private school), if there aren’t any volunteers, there aren’t many activities.  So ultimately, I knew I had to participate.  Could I have cut down on the activities I chaired or took part in?  Sure.  Why didn’t I?  [Insert long sigh here.]  Because in the end, I realized that I wasn’t sending my child to a private school because it was better than the public schools in the area.  (We actually have great public schools in our district.)  I was sending my child to a private Catholic school so she could learn about her faith.  The most imp...

9 years later...

This is the story of a dentist-in-waiting-nomad, Angela (a.k.a. my sister, "Ate"-[for those who don't speak Filipino, pronounced "a-teh"]) and a basketball playing of an engineer. Freshman year: boy sees girl and never speaks to her. Senior year: boy befriends girl's sister and gets his chance. A winter formal came along. Boy asked. Girl accepted. Boy meets girl's brothers (eek!), mom, and dad (EEK!). They danced. Girl moves to San Francisco, then San Jose. Boy moves to San Jose. Boy moves back to Valencia. Girl stays in San Jose. This summer, girl will move back to Valencia. Soon, boy and girl will finally be getting married! 9 years later! I have yet to express how excited I am that my sister and Louie are finally getting married. (Not that they needed to tie the knot to officially make Louie a part of our family.) For nine years, Louie has become another big brother to me and an Uncle "Looouuuwweeeee" to my nieces- always willing to d...
