Last week we celebrated the one year anniversary of Bug's baptism.
Amazing. It's been an entire year. It feels like yesterday, but it also feels so long ago. So many things have changed, but one that really hasn't, is the growing amount of love and support that we have from our friends and family. We find so much support in those around us, that is makes raising a kid (not easy), but easi-ER. :) God has been so good to us in providing us with such amazing people to help raise our little Buggy. It does take a village after all.
One year since Bug has been baptized and she has grown so much already. She has made her presence known at mass on Sundays, yelling a BIG, "AMEEEN!" with the congregation, as well as socializing up and down the aisle, with Daddy right behind her, chasing her. (We're still working on it.) She has become a part of our meal time prayers, consciously putting down her food without being asked, when she notices Mommy and Daddy start to pray. Although she doesn't necessarily stay still during the bedtime prayer book reading, she does recognize them and will end it with a sign of the cross (and according to her, "In the name of the son, and the son, and the son, and the son..."), and lastly, a BIG "AMEEEN!" It's all so weird. Not the praying part, but the part where Bug is an actual part of our family. She engages in the conversations Daddy and Mommy have and will often tell us when she's done with her food, or what clothes she'd like to wear. We've officially transformed from husband and wife, to a couple with a baby, to a real family. During the newborn and baby phase, you get used to just taking care of the baby, getting done what needs to get done, and barely surviving on 2 minutes of sleep. Now that Bug is a toddler and is more communicative, we're interacting with her more than ever. What an awesome moment when you realize that that little baby who was made from love, is now giving so much love back into your family unit. It's also that moment when you realize how important each individual is in your family (no matter how big or how small).
Last week's activities...
Lecturing from her throne.
Mommy's surprise lunch date last Thursday. :)
This weekend we celebrated Uncle Kris' birthday with a homemade fondue party. Mmm...
Mama and Papa's next door neighbor's granddaughter, Bella came to play with Bug and Lo. I'm pretty sure this could be my sweet future. :)
Afterwards, Daddy went to celebrate a friend's birthday and Mommy and Bug had girls night. :)
I'm pretty sure she actually found this interesting.
Sitting ON Mommy's tummy, reading.
After getting Bug to bed on time, I had no idea what to do by myself. Cleaning was done, baby was asleep, and Daddy was out. Teeny bopper movies? Why not!?!? Eh. That idea didn't last long. I just stay in bed, hoping to catch up on sleep, but never could actually get myself to sleep. Did you know that when you become a mom, even if you can sleep, you never will again? It's so interesting how that happens. You beg for sleep and the first chance you get, you can't. You just wander around your house, looking for something to clean. Sick joke.
Miss Diva.
This kid. No words.
God Bless,
Kat
