Three-nager

This is Bug. Everything about her screams "I am the boss."  (Okay, maybe she's literally screaming that.) 80% of the time, she's sweet. 20% of the time, she's a THREE-nager... ...and somewhere in between, she's...a charmer. :) My baby isn't a baby and that's happy and sad all at once.  In all of this bossiness, leading, lecturing, sweet talking, charming THREE-nager business is my baby...somewhere.  Can you help me find her?  A very inquisitive, sometimes cuddly, sarcastic, witty THREE-nager has taken over her body.  Give it to me straight- I'm not getting the baby back, huh?  (Cue scary music.)  We officially have a kid. Three-nager conversation #1: Mom:  "Bug, how was school today?" [No response.] Mom:  "Bug..how was school today?" [A bit louder.] Bug:  "Good.  Hey, mom.  Why did you say it twice?" Mom: "Because..." Bug: [Interjects] "Because you  thought ...

Holidays 2014

We spent Thanksgiving in Sacramento with the cousins and had a GREAT time.  It's not often we get to visit, so we made this one a long[er] one.  While we were there, we even got  to celebrate Ate Kaycee's 12th birthday.  12!  I can't believe it.  Niece #1, granddaughter #1 on our side, and the most amazing kid you'll ever meet.  I still remember being 19 years old, leaving our Thanksgiving meal behind, to drive to San Diego for her birth.  TIME FLIES.  I literally blinked and she turned into this gorgeous tween.   Something I never get tired of- seeing these cousins together. New Bug things: 1- Faith.  Ella's faith (and knowledge of it) is growing each day.  She's become more inquisitive about Jesus and participating during mass.  I am in awe of her thirst for knowledge.  She obviously gets her "need to know" from dad and although I find myself scrambling to give her answers in a way a 3 year old un...

Divine Inspiration

You know what's not funny?  Starting your laundry at 8p.m., falling asleep on the couch, and then waking up at 12:35a.m., to the cold, forgotten laundry that's been sitting there since 8p.m.  True story.  For about a week, I've been in a rut.  I've been meaning to wanting to write a blog entry, but had no clue where to begin.  And now, at 12:38p.m., all I want to do is sleep, but now I have to wait for the laundry and I feel oddly inspired to write about it.  Talk about divine inspiration.  FINALLY!  I'm sure a post written this late at night is going to make complete sense.  (I apologize in advance.  You're only through the first paragraph.  You still have time to stop reading.) Oh, the pitfalls of apartment living- communal laundry.  I can't just forget my laundry in the washer and go to bed.  Good thing it's not the weekend (a.k.a. prime time for laundry), or else someone would have taken it upon themselves to rem...

Sleeping Wyatt

So, in an effort to post a bit more (let's face it, 2014 has been an epic fail for me in terms of updating this blog), I've downloaded an app for my blog that allows me to update whenever I want, long or short blog post. I'm actually updating from my bed right this second while the hubs is sleeping. (I was obviously not utilizing my smart phone to the best of it's ability.) So here I go... God must have really been looking out for me because he blessed me with a kid who loves to do laundry! (Such a weak spot for me.) Every week Bug insists of helping us sort and start the laundry. Woohoo! I'm not going to lie- she is fantastic at sorting! Check it out! 75% of this sorting is all her. Her piles are "dark purple and blues, pinks (yes, she's got so much pink she made it's own pile), whites, other colors." Update: someone is growing increasingly fond of Lolo Larry each time she sees him. This makes me happy because he is such a special uncle to me-- th...

Just. Like. That.

In what felt like a heartbeat, we had ourselves a 3 year old.  Amazing.  When they say time flies, they're not exaggerating.  It really does fly.  I hope that my lack of blogging hasn't left any of you feeling abandoned or without a Buggy update.  (If you're following me on FB or Instagram, you haven't missed a thing!)  On Bug's birthday, Daddy and I took the day off work to take Bug to the movies and to the pool!  This summer has been the most "summer-like" since I was a kid.  I can't remember having this much fun.  We spent every Friday after school at the local wading pool with school friends, church friends, and cousins!  What better way to beat the heat, right?  I am so grateful to live in a community that values family so much that they provide an endless amount of kid-friendly activities.  There is always something going on.  A big goal for us this year was to help Bug become more active outdoors and I really do thi...
