THE BEST Mama

I have the best Mama in the world.  (Really, I do!)  She is 100% behind me, in anything and everything I've done and is completely supportive of the direction I've chosen to live my life.  I am so thankful for that. The other morning, I woke up not feeling quite like myself.  I'm sure we've all had those days where we're a little unsure of ourselves, feeling not quite as confident, not as smart, not as pretty, not as useful- moments where we are unsure we've made the right choices and/or decisions with our lives.  I started to re-evaluate myself and came out with one BIG sigh.  I went to work, opened my email and had just received "Today's Word with Joel & Victoria".  If you're unfamiliar with it, it's a daily bible verse and commentary from Joel Osteen and his wife, Victoria.  They are always meaningful in some way or another, but that day in particular, I knew that that particualr verse was meant for me.  It read... "For we...

4 years and counting!

I know, this is late. On July 1st, Wyatt and I celebrated our 4 year dating anniversary.  I am not familiar with the anniversary celebrating etiquette- which anniversaries to celebrate other than the wedding (if any at all), etc.  I thought that since Wyatt still wanted to celebrate our dating anniversary, I wasn't about to turn down the offer.  One day, I know, his enthusiasm for celebrating our dating anniversary will die down.  So I took advantage of it this year (and perhaps I'll do it again next year). :)  My amazing friend, Jessica (also a sorority sister), got us a great deal at the Marrriot Hotel in Newport Beach.  We headed down to Newport Beach on Saturday morning, to spend the day at Crystal Cove.  I had always heard about what a great historical and romantic spot this was, but had never been. Next year, I hope we get to rent out one of their cottages.  If you've never heard of it or seen pictures, click ...

Cat in a Hat

Do you think my McKayla is annoyed?  (Thank you, Tita Precy for the hat!) God Bless, Kat

WRONG!

A few weeks ago, my brother and his family came into town for a long weekend and for my sister's wedding.  I decided this would be a great opportunity to take one day to babysit all three of my nieces.  That Friday, I picked up the girls from my parents' house and took them to our tiny one bedroom apartment.  I figured, "What's a few hours?  No big deal."  Right?  Right?  As I left my parents' driveway, I suddenly began to worry.  I listened, as both my brother and sister-in-law "wished me luck".  EEK!  After picking them up, we went to my apartment to go swimming, thinking this activity would surely tire them out.  WRONG! Then, we took a break from swimming to meet Uncle Wyatt for lunch at Islands.  Here's how it went... And this was before Myranda got upset.  You never would have guessed it was coming based on this beautiful, happy face. After lunch, we went to Target to get some snacks for the movie we plann...

Mr. & Mrs. Martinez!

Last Thursday, July 8, 2010, my sister, Angela and Louie got hitched at the Beveryly Hills Courthouse.  WOOHOO!  THEY DID IT!  Witnesses:  Mama, Papa, Louie's parents, my grandpa, my brother and his family, Wyatt, and myself.  Yes, we filled that little room!  I've never been to a civil wedding before and I wasn't quite sure what to expect.  As short as it was, the judge delivered a beautiful message on love, being shelter for one another, and growing individually and as a couple.  It was amazing and by the end, we were in tears.  (When is my family not in tears?)  After the ceremony, we went back to my parents' house for a casual celebration with family!  The following night, we met up with the bride and groom in Pasadena for a beautiful and slightly more formal celebration dinner at Cafe Santorini. Enjoy the pics.  Sorry they're not as large as I would like, but this is what I got.  I just could not wait f...
